Anyone have a Spanish Destroyer Carbine?

I've always wanted one because they are unique. I also think it would be nice to have the Star 9mm Largo pistol as a good companion since they use the same ammo.

Anybody have one of these rifles? What do you think? Largo round too weak? Does this round compare to the .30 Carbine?
Please share your thoughts.

Jeff, they are a pretty well made rifle. They use a very small mauser type action. They are very much like the Marlin Camp Carbine. The 9mm Largo pick up much more velocity with the longer barrel. If you really want a devastating rifle pistol round combination, get a lever action 44 mag. Hits targets with an incredible impact. The Star Model A (9mm Largo) and the Star Model B (9mm Parrabellum) are very well built and accurate pistols. I qualified for my CHL with a 1927 model A. Scored a perfect 250. I like the Destroyer/Star combination. The Largo is my favorite. It is about the same balistics as a 38 Super. If you really want a weird 9mm Largo pistol get an Astra 400. It will eat any 38 type cartridge that you feed it: 9mm largo, parrabellun, 38 super, 9mm Steyr, 380. etc,etc,etc. They head space on the rim instead of the shoulder. They sort of look like a pipe with a 1x2 block of wood taped on. High quality, though.

I hear ya on the .44 mag combo. I had my eye on a guide gun configuration a while back.

About the Star pistolas, I don't think you can beat the prices lately. I believe that you can get a Star B for around $179 and a Super B for $199 as new. Of course, the Super B isn't C&R eligible. Or is it?

As for the Astras, they are kindo funcky lookin', but didn't know they could shoot different ammo. That's pretty cool if you ask me.

I think I'll see if a Destroyer can be found for a decent price. It seems when the hit the importers, they never last long though.

I think the Super B is C&R eligible. The only difference is the Model A&B have a linked barrel, like a Colt and the Super has a supposedly improved linkless barrel. I tend to like the linked barrel better.

the Astra 400 (but NOT the 600!) will happily digest & feed almost anything near 9mm/38ACP you feed it-that one thing makes up for its looks! & that un-finickyness just MIGHT save your skin in a REAL EMERGENCY!
in my younger and MUCH more foolish days of yore, i constantly shot 38 super in mine with no ill effects on the gun or me-i can't say the same for numerous coyotes,coons, possoms,etc. that happened by.
remind me to tell you sometime about shooting one PARTICULAR skunk. LOL.
