How to get your CC&R FFL License
I want to thank Jen for this thread. THANX!
It was full of info and I am sure that reading the instructions and printing the forms saved me some headaches. So today on 8/12/04 all forms were filled out and mailed. 1 set of forms went to ATF&E, one set went certified mail to my local sheriffs' office. I thought the forms were very easy to fill out but I was surprised that there was no place for a D/L#. I have to give a D/L when I do a transfer, so I thought there would be a place for a D/L on this form as well. Guess federal stuff does require it? Now I get to wait. I sure hope I don't have to wait 4-5 Months! That will blow.

Opie,
Try the source...BATF.gov. I used the previously downloadable forms here and sent them to Dalles as instructed, turns out they needed to be sent to Atlanta. It'll probably add months (has been already) to the process if at all. Oh ya, they sure cashed the check quick! |

ATF took the main application form down. The compliance form is still available for download on their website. For the main application form, go to www.cruffler.com and download the form there. Or you could ask the ATF to mail the forms to you, but it will delay you until the forms arrive.

Found some more important to us ATF forms:
ATF Form 5300.38 (Change of Address) http://www.usa-federal-forms.com/usf...DOT-38.pdf.zip and here is a link to ALL ATF forms: http://www.usa-federal-forms.com/fbf-by-folder/184.html If anyone knows in Change of Address form #'s 6, 8, 10 are for the old address? It says for "Current", but then #'s 7, 9, 11 ask for New address. ??? Thanks |

C&R
Ok, newbie here. Just got my packet yesterday from the BATF for my C&R apps. Filled it out as it seemed pretty straight forward and will mail it today
1-29-05. I appreciate all the info on this site. Great bunch of people.

Re: How to get your CC&R FFL License
Is the ATF form---
F 7CR (5310.16) - Application for License (Collector of Curios and Relics) Under 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44, Firearms---- used for renewal? I do not see any spot on it to write the applicant's old C&R FFL number. Also, how soon prior to expiration should the renewal application be mailed in? Thanks, Pale Update: OK, I just read on another site that a separate renewal application form is sent by ATF several weeks before expiration and there is an "Acquisition and Disposition" section on the renewal form. I certainly don't want to give ATF and local government a list of my firearms. Is there really a requirement to do this? and is it law? Last edited by Palerider; February 11, 2005 at 17:20. |

Hey Guys,
I just got my C&R renewal form. Do you guys know if the "Renewal Application Questionnaire" needs to be filled out or is it voluntary? As a C&R license holder, in question 7a and 7b, I need to state how many firearms I have logged into my books and how many have been disposed of. Also, how do I find out who my CLEO is?? |

Re: C and R question
Provided you checked the "An Individual" box in question# 6 you put ONLY your SS#.
Pale PS-I'm looking at a 3 year old form I filled out for my original FFL. I assume the questions are the same albeit possibly numbered different. |

I just got my application form(green) in the mail today! I requested both forms on the website, but was only sent one. I did notice however that section 10 is "nonimmigrant alien certification of compliance with 18 U.S.C 922 (g)(5)(b)".
Does that mean that there is only one form now, or did I not get the other? Thanks, Gunny

Just want to report:
Mailed C&R app 3/31/06, received C&R in the mail today, 5/18/06. Pretty good turn-around time, I wasn't really expecting it for another month or so. However, they screwed up my address even tho it is very clearly written on the app in two places. Way to go BATFE

I sent mine in on July 13th, 2006. Received it October 8th, 2006. I probably wouldn't have received it then, except I called and complained and asked them to explain why it was taking so long. I had it within 3 days after that call.

Beginning C&R gunsmith?
Any additional suggestions for a beginning gunsmith students? My plan, subject to facts and law, is to get C&R firearms and use them as class projects. If they're successfully done I'd probably need to sell them to fund the next class project. However, I don't expect the income to be anything more than a viscious cycle that let's me build better projects.

I'm in the process of re-applying for my C&R.
I got two forms. One is green and 4 pages. The other is white, and in landscape format (as opposed to portrait). The white one is "Certification of Compliance with 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(5)(B). Part 1 lists "Name under which the application was filed". Fine, no problem there. But, part 2 lists "Name of person CERTIFYING to citizenship:" - and here is where I'm confused. I'm a natural born citizen of the USA. Do I put my own info here again? Or what? On the green form, section 10 "Nonimmigrant Alien Certification of Compliance With 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(5)(B)" - do I fill this part out? I'm not a non-immigrant...I'm a natural born citizen. If so, what do I put for part A "Name of Person Certifying Compliance"? Myself? Sorry for the questions...these forms are confusing...

Question #10 is broken up into 3 parts or subsections. A, B and C. You put your name on section A as the one certifying your citizenship. THen you leave B and C blank. This is of course only if your a natural born citizen. This is how it was explained to me. |

What is THAT about, can anyone clue me in?
Outside of Michigan Handgun purchase permits, I haven't had a hunting license since 1977. How do I answer THIS? Thanks! Greg O
