PPSH41
Alright I have another question for ya guys!
I have been told that the PPSh parts kits are in abundance. I need to know who or where to get a receiver for the PPSh-41 parts kits that I have started to see floating around out there in Fun-Gun Land! Furthermore, the SB-23 Bill here Kalifornia allows a rifle longer that 30 inches and without a pistol grip to be sold here in Kalifornicatoriac so long as it has a ten round magazine or a fixed ten round mazazine, which means that the PPSh-41 is right down that alley. Only thing is Inter Ordinace doesn't sell ten round magazines and aren't willing to divulge the info on how or where they make or buy there semi-auto receivers. Does anyone or has anyone heard anything on this SMG for further development for us prisoners WITHIN the US? ![]() [ January 29, 2002: Message edited by: crapgame ]

From what I understand IO's guns aren't worth a good sh#t. Problems, problems, problems. This was kicked around here I thought(early last year) but maybe it was another Site.

Frightening really. ![]() Still, I long for a 7.62X25 carbine myself and wish someone would resurrect the CZECH 24 in semi-auto. FWRA

See Cruffler's review of the InterOrdnance version of this critter at: http://www.cruffler.com/review-November-00.html
Cruffler said, "..the hammer would follow the bolt forward almost all the time. We were never able to get the gun to fire more than four rounds consecutively before this problem manifested itself. We discontinued testing when the gun began to double..." He's real diplomatic about the whole thing. But, I think the fact that I see NONE of these things on any tables at the gun shows, is a pretty good sign that these things are more trouble than they are worth. Although, they DO look cool.

I never caught the bug for pistol caliber semi auto submachine guns. I guess I don't see the point. Cheaply made innacurate bullet hoses that can't spray. Too big for CCW, too whimpy as a rifle. I guess deep down I do actually want one, it's just way the hell down on my list.

There's more to PPSh conversion to semi than a receiver. If I recall correctly, this is an open bolt gun which is a no, no to the feds. A semi conversion involves modifying or replacing bolt with a firing pin/hammer or striker solution, new receiver that CANNOT be modified to fire FA, trigger group, safety, etc... No new barrel required, just a permanently fixed extention to make the required length (I believe this is what IO does). I don't think I want to tackle the re-engineering...or the correspondence to make sure ATF does not object to the approach. In some cases, if the receiver is TOO close to the original and could conceivably be converted back, they will nix it. If I HAD to have one, I would look at the IO semi. I really don't HAVE to, so I won't.
BTW, same thing applies to Stens, CZ-24/25's, MPi-69, MPi-81, and most of the kit subguns around. The open bolt thing is a real bummer... This is why closed bolt FAL's are my favorite... kosher, relatively simple build semi-auto and one heck of a rifle!
