FAL Gunsmithing Video
Can someone advise me on which video to purchase, so that I might learn to do my own smithing on my personal FAL?

The one that Gunplumber sells is the only one worth buying.

The truth be known, GP can be abrasive and in his own words an "Arrogant Bastard" But his video is by far ,and I mean light years, the very best.
Assemble a FAL following that video you will have a safe and reliable rifle. That will give years of use.

Don't waste your money on the AGI video. Buy the ARS package.

Hey
I'll give you my AGI disc just so when you do get your GP disc you can have a good laugh. BTW, GP has great a great build tutorial for hk I have used. Highly recommend that as well The man can explain things so even I can understand.

I have GP's original video and bought the new expanded one along with his workbook. After 8 or more builds, I still use the workbook as reference.
But I still leave the handguard ring off about 50% of the time when timing barrel.

I swore I would never leave off the handguard ring. After all the warnings from members here over the years there was just no way. Then on my last build it happened. barrel timmed and everything just the way I wanted it and, Oh no! no handguard ring It gets everyone at least once.

If it happens to you after all the thousands of rifles you have built then I guess I don't feel quite so bad.

Well, I no longer tape the ring to the barrel, but it did happen a few months ago . . . on build 3978. Maybe just as a reminder not to get too cocky.
