Well...not a match, or really competition.....
...but I did some shooting last Friday
![]() Training up with a few fellas to get 'with the program' and be on the same page as the rest of the instructors. The pistol CoF was interesting; but I have a few new tips ta learn. The tricks worked well until it went down to the 10rd/2.5 sec/2.5 yd line. I sorta Zen'd it and fell back on my own style. Kept 'em in the bulll and within time; but alas.... didn;t do the "depress, recover, reset" like I shoulda. Gotta work on that! ![]() The carbine side of the day was right kewl. All others were sporting various incarnations of the AR-16. Yers Truly, being sans AR, was only toting "Shorty" Held my own and din't fugk anything or anybody up...so's it was a good run! I *did* beg off from some of the 'move'n'shoot' stuff, as I din't think any would take too kindly to a nekkid 7.62 going off near thier noggins. No... really.. I wasn't right comfortable with that particular scenario.. and discretion being the better part... yanno? ![]() They mighta gotten off a few more rounds; but when the steel started clangin'.... Neither the SF Sargeant /instructor nor the SF Capt./participant bitched me out, so all's good. I even threw in a (n inadvertent, but) timely IA drill.Just shows ta go ya..... Old guys/ guns and gear can still run with the young'uns.... just not as fast or long! Perchance they'll even have some pix up by now???www.rockwelltactical.com There's hope for us old fogeys yet!

I'm sure you rocked'em - I love showing up to things like that and being the only battle rifle present.
I'd love to see the look on their faces when you did CQB with a .308 - I can see why you declined. I'm shooting the FNH 3 Gun Championships in September, and you bet I'm using the Rhodie. We'll see how I fare against the other Heavy Metal competitors. |
