Got some NEW WOOD!!

Wood for ya JUGS!!!

Well I now have the ULTIMATE BGS kit that I will use to build my "A" type BGS build!! Excellent kit, will use an Imbel NBC barrel with correct lug, this butt stock will be refinished and freshened up my the one and ONLY BLUE MONSTER and the WOOD hand guards I received from a special member here that will be made to match PERFECTLY!! The metal will be refinished with HK Gun Metal Blue Dura Coat!!

Of course built on a numbers matching Coonan Type I BGS stamped receiver!!!

This should complete the rest of the builds I will be completing....THIS YEAR!!!

Nice! That stock should clean up nice. It has some good tiger stripe grain.

That's sweet ... I wouldn't touch it ... or the lower ... ... or none of the rest of it ... don't paint it white w/black stripes and bring it up here to shoot ...

you do realize you'll have to shoot your rifle ... ??? ... ... and shoot it "well" ...

Leave the BGS alone ... OR ... sell it to me and I'll leave it alone ... !

your's is in great condition "as is" ... !!

I'm with Jug, I think you might regret refinishing that piece of history. I know I wish I had not refinished my blued G1 parts years ago. It seemed like a good Idea at the time. Either way it will be a classic. Then again if you have 2 or maybe 9 of them go for it!

Wow, I'd have a hard time deciding whether to redo anything on that one. Of course the receiver and the barrel won't match so I'm sure it will look great refinished also. Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

JUGS, YOU know ALL those bases are covered! I sense YOU are starting to show fear of the "WHITE TIGER" already!!

You know the TIGER senses fear and ATTACKS QUICKLY!!

Try and show a lil less fear and you shall SURVIVE a lil LONGER!!!

She will make the trip.....BUT like I said since we are only shooting SHORT range I think "SWEET LOUISE" will be all that is needed to keep you at bay!

OH yeah, thanks guys that wood is just BADASS in the sun as the stripes are really 3D and once Rich is done with it, it will look like the day it was cut 40+ years ago!!! The metal on the kit is all pretty damn nice also with 80% of the Original blueing in tack, the hand guards are pretty much wore to the metal, BUT they won't be used anyway!

Should make a nice partner to the first BGS, Pat refinished the metal on it Gun Metal Blue with Gun Kote and it is a beautiful rifle as well! And Rich brought that wood back to life as well! I didn't do ANY of the work on this one so I don't mind saying it is BEAUTIFUL and shoots pretty damn good considering I used one of the "JUNK" Sarco Argy barrels for the build!! OH yeah and of course ya know I can't hit the broad side of a barn......ya know how I NEVER SHOOT

Seriously though, my bgs kit is jealous. I need to find it some sexy wood.

Congrats!

I think that kit needs a magpul stock, saw grip and a railed front end.. maybe a flash light and front grip. You know the Germans would have done it if it was available at the time..

I'll take the wood because you will obviously have no need for it.

That is exactly why I decided to refinish the entire kit/rifle on the first BGS, yes the lower and metal HG's were very nice original finish, BUT once you screw on a new receiver and updated barrel it looks too much like a mismatch pieces parts rifle....
I actually now have two complete VERY NICE BGS kits and both lowers are just about the same as far as original finish I would say around 75 to 85% + original blue still exist, the barrel being used on this "A" type clone will be Imbel and there is pretty much NO finish remaining on the barrel forward of the GB and I will be having the lug installed.....well yeah maybe a tough decision BUT it will be completely refinished, stock and pistol grip, wood HG's will be also worked to match by Blue Monster, metal will be refinished in the HK gun metal blue just as this lil 74, same finish.....

Thanks guys!!

You do the Dura-Coat yourself, or farm the work out?
Mind if I ask how much it costs vs bluing? Was actually
looking at Gun Kote Socom Blue, comparing it to bluing.
Problem is there isn't much info out there, and haven't
yet called on pricing. I'm open to Dura-Coat though.

I have a friend here that does my Dura Coat www.tcustomsllc.com
I was using Pat Jones to spray my Gun Kote, If I recall Pat was charging me $200 to Gun Kote my builds......as far as comparing cost to blueing, I can't answer since I haven't had anyone do a complete rifle for me......
