DSA Magazines?

Are they any good? I'd like to try out a 25 or 30 rounder but I'd like some feedback on them if possible.

Thanks.

There have been several reviews posted about them here on the files. The majority opinion is that they are poor quality. Guys have received their new mags with spot rust forming over the whole mag body. The spring is to stiff and makes the mag hard to load. Once loaded they don't feed reliably, causing FTF malfunctions. To sum it up they make expensive paper weights.

Thanks, I tried a search but didn't come up with much. I guess I'll stick with surplus mags.

I have a 25 round DSA mag that works well.

It's been to the range twice now and feeds all 25 rounds without issue.

I'll buy a couple more.

same here, I got 4 30 rounders and they work pretty darn good, not a problem yet...thats out of my century l1a1 and an Imbel gun. They look a little silly being that long but they shoot fine.

I purchased some 20 rounders a few months ago. No rust, no ftf or any failures at all. All have functioned flawlessly. Will buy more.

I have some DSA 20 rounders with the rust spots others have mentioned. One has a follower that sticks. I have some 30 rounders that are much nicer, no rust and feed flawlessly. The 30 rounders make the rifle unwieldy, too much magazine hanging down and too heavy.
Get some nice like new IMI's instead.

Okay so we can all agree that the DSA 20 rounders have problems. But does everyone agree that the 30 rounders are good. I wouldn't want to just rely on my own sample of two before buying more?

I have 10 (ten) 30 rounds DSA mags and all of them work perfect. Then I purchased 5 (five) 20 round DSA mags (2nd generation) and all of them have feeding problems. I just returned them...ahh...ohh....now I remember that I have that money as a credit at AIM....guess I'll go shop for something before I forget again...

I have had horrible luck with my DSA 20 round mags...tons of jams. Where can I get good mags? I see that some have had no problem with DSA mags and others have had issues as I have. Does anyone have suggestions for a non-DSA brand of mags that are reliable?

I replaced the spring and they work fine now

I bought 4 DSA 20 round magazines, and got jams the last 3 cartridges in the magazine. I installed some extra power magazine springs, and the problems went away.

I have been following this thread. My FAL is coming with two DSA mags, twenty round I think. And the LGS has some FAL mags on his knick knack shelf, but I have no idea what make. Only that they look like FAL mags.
A couple weeks ago I purchased a grab bag of militaria from someone, mainly for the bayonets. It just happened to come with (what I was told) three Austrian FAL mag pouches. I know I'll be needing to fill those with magazines, so I've been reading threads like these. The good thing about the LGS is he said if his mags don't work I can bring them back. Still, I hate to just blow through 120 rounds in search of a good magazine.

I have 6 30s made by DSA that I purchased through Brownells. Better price and no tax, (as I live in Illinois). all work fine but 1 that had no mag latch cut. returned was not an issue with brownells rather then tring to return to DSA.
check it out, you might save some $$$ buyng from brownells, better customer service for sure.

So the general consensus is DSA 20rd are hit or miss (but mostly miss), and the 30rd seem to be OK.

I have 6 of the latest generation DSA mags with poly followers. Purchased in the last 30 days. They are all 20 round magazines. All work flawlessly. Zero issues. Finish is uniform on all of them. They showed up with a bit of black residue on them from being black oxide treated. That wiped off with a bit of oil and left a decent shine. There is zero rust anywhere on them. The followers appear to be a quality part. No feeding or jamming issues. They leave faint hairline scratches from the feed lips. Nothing serious. I find it hard to believe that DSA runs a lot of their full auto guns on their magazines in light of all the rumored problems. Since they work flawlessly in my FAL I begin to question if the guns they fail to work in ....may have some other issue? Or...did I just happen to win the lottery and have an Imbel FAL that will eat from any mag? I have several different mags and 10 or so are from mixed origin. They all run.

You are correct on your views of the DSA mags. My views on the subject are this: if your DSA mags run good in your gun then don't worry about anything.

We got some DSA haters here on the Files. Without DSA, the FAL would be even more of an unknown here in the US than it is.

DSA is the only manufacturer of complete FAL rifles in the US. We are damn lucky to have them.

Most of the DSA-haters aren't haters; they are vocal critics of known problems that don't get addressed. Those who are haters started off as DSA-lovers. There have been issues.

If they've finally fixed the mag issue, that is great news. It's going to take more than one report to get my mind changed on the issue.

Congratulations on a good rifle that works flawlessly.

Condition of current DSA mags

What type of condition are the DSA mags currently being sold? Has the rust issue been resolved?

MAGAZINES

Try these guys!!
http://www.keepshooting.com/

Good FAST service and very usable magazines, (at least in MY case!!).
Their other stuff is nice too, at least what I've seen.
Would buy from them again VERY QUICKLY.
They had FAL (Metric) and HK93 mags when nobody else did (at least at a reasonable price!!).
(This was about 3 years back!!)
