multiple barrels

can a person with a legal nfa sbr put any sub length barrel in another caliber on the regestered lower?

Yep. If it's a permanent change you should notify ATF but if it's just swapping uppers on something like an AR,........no worries.

NFA has said that if you are traveling, you should submit a letter adding any & all upper assemblies you want to use.
That's because not all LEO's know the rules & it helps to avoid possible confusion because the caliber & barrel length stated on the paper work may not be the same as the caliber & length of the barreled upper.

If you travel & have the original upper on the lower, & have extra uppers with it no problem.
