Price check on an FN49??

No luck looking on gunbroker for price comparison, so how much would a Colombian FN49 in 30.06 be going for these days? Would estimate the finish to be about 85% black paint over stoving(I only assume) and all parts matching except the stock and the bore nice, bright, and shiny. Just ball park figures would be great.

I've never seen one in real life. I would think at least $1500

I am somewhat up on FN49 prices. I owned an Egyptian 8mm many years ago and have been following the gunbroker listings recently.

The 8mm Mauser Egyptian FN49's are most common and seem to go for $600-$1000

The 30-06 Luxembourg FN49's are rarer and seem to be in nicer shape for the most part. They usually start at $1000 and go up from there to mid 1000's

The 7mm Mauser Venezuelan FN49s are pretty rare but seem to be priced in the range seen for the Egyptian rifles.

I don't recall seeing Colombia '06 FN49's for sale recently, they may be rare

These prices are for military style rifles, the sporterized FN49s don't seem to sell very well at all but their owners seem to think they are worth as much as the original unaltered examples.

you see one that doesn't look bad better jump on it if you can somewhat less than a 1000 imported. I purchased the only one I have every seen and even Goose 52 used to admit seeing only five or six.

There was a junk one sold on GB e few months ago by one of the Gander Mountain stores. Looked like it suffered a major out of battery misfire. Bolt and carrier were both junk, receiver was borderline. The rest of the gun was 60% at best. I think it sold for over $400, I was outbid somewhere around $250. If you can get a complete, matching, ready to fire one for $800-1200 jump on it.

I have a Vinny in 7x57, I have had for over ten years. It has several mixed serial number parts. I've never fired it. Would it be worth anything?

I recently bought a very clean numbers matching 7x57 for under $700. They don't seem to bring as much as either the Columbian 30.06 or the Argentine .308. Very few were made for those contracts and most were beat half to death. The Venny's saw a lot less use for the most part.

Doin way better than me. I bought a basket case off of GB a few months back for $400 or so. By the time I buy all the parts to fix it and pay Larry to install the new gas block I'll have over $800 in a complete mix master that hopefully shoots. Wishing now I would of spent a few more dollars and bought a nicer one.

Got my Luxi 30.06 for something like $350 after talking them down. They though it was the much more common Egyptian rifle in 8mm. One of the best firearms deals I have ever gotten. Until then I thought you had to loose money when collecting guns.

That must be yours on Gunbroker that went up about two days after we posted our comments. Do we get a discount as advisors?

I don't think it is, unless he moved recently, the adresses don't match. Was kind of an odd coincidence though.

Who made .308 or 7.62x51 FN 49s? There was one at the last Nashville gun show with an asking price of $900. It's been there several times over the last year or two, so I don't know if it's worth it or not.

Those were all Argentine. Originally shipped in 7.65 Argentine most were converted to .308 with a 20rd box mag. Pretty rare all things considered and $900 ain't bad at all if it's in decent shape and the numbers match.

I would agree myself, again so long as the rifle is in decent shape with bright sharp bore and all. Also 20 round mags are readily available for these (FOR NOW) at a reasonable price.

That one on gunbroker is pretty nice. I have one that has the exact same type stock markings. His is only the 2nd one I have seen like that. I wish he had more pictures.
I think his will reach $1800 to $2000.
At least I hope it does because I have the sister gun to it.
I was offered $1500 and then later $1800 for mine but if I sell it then my wife takes my money and I have 1 less gun.

7x57 Ven owner here. All matching except for the bolt carrier which is only off by 2 digits. The last number only.

Must have been accidently switched in the armory many years ago to be so close. Stock is scuffed up and darkened in spots but adds character IMHO.

One of the sweetest shooting rifles in that chambering! Shoots like a .223!

Paid $600 IIRC.

Oh and the serial number is 6XX.

So what would it be worth realistically?

I would think somewhere in the neighborhood of $800-$900

Nice rifles.. can't help you on price, other than ANY country other than Egyptian carries a bit more value than the Egyptian in same condition. I started out buying the Egytpian 8 mm's. Got several including a fine condition original that hadnt been "refurbed" or messed with by importers. Googling the FN49 led me to Goose52 and this room, where I lurked for a few years. Eventually I got sucked into the FAL thing even tho I was heavily invested in H&K and AKs.... Still have an FN49 to help clear out my stock of 7.92X57 mm.
