Mags for AR's in .308
I'm curious to know which .308 AR pattern rifles the Magpul 7.62 PMAG will fit and reliably function in...a friend is considering buying one and inquired about that aspect...also how much does the .308 PMAG usually run and availability.

Price runs around $20 per and as with most gun related things these days, you'll need to look a little to find them.

There are a few on Gunbroker.
With all the political hullabaloo, expect availability to be spotty for the next year or so. If it all turns out to be bullshit again - like it was in 2008, there should be a ton of them available in the fall season of 2013.

I went with the LAR-8 myself.
Uses the same mags in it and my Century L1A1. I can see the want for a rifle that uses what is becoming the "standard" .308 mags for the AR but nothing else that I liked was in my price range at the time. Either KAC, LMT or others of like quality I wouldn't mind getting at some point. |

I have a pmag 308 magazine and I like it better than the DPMS 19 rounders.
Solid heavy and well made, you could almost drive a truck over it. Flawless function too. Boteach usually has them at the best price. |

Unless it is installed in the rifle at the time.
...in which case I think you'll have a problem. Outcome is even more sketchy if you are holding it when it happens.

Armalite rifles will now be made to take Armalite pattern magazines.
