FAL SCOPE MOUNT AND SUNDRY
Hello the camp! I finally broke down and joined the shooting club around the bend and over the hill--next thing to 16 mi from the ranch. It's time to sight in a winter's worth of assemblies [they'll become 'rifles' if they work].
I got this in a deal quite a ways past. [I think I mentioned it then, however given my memory's good, but short, here 'tis again.] ![]() Front and back view: ![]() ![]() Talking about it before, mention was made of some mounts scarring the receiver when tightened. This method looks fairly good--I know it was solid cuz removal needed more than a bit of tongue torque: ![]() ![]() QUESTION: Is there a reason not to use this in testing my builds, both inch and metric? Don't recall if pics show it, but mount doesn't have inch 'hook' in the rear, and I took it from an L1A1 rifle. The 'sundry' part: how many builds do you need under your belt before you quit goofing up the sear spring? There are 3 springs, fairly close in length, with one considerably stouter than the others: trigger return spring, cocking handle plunger spring and, 'ol' stouty', the sear spring. Seems I get it right, mostly, then fall into CRS. 'Course, correction only takes 10 min or so, but still...... I've used my slave pin so much it thinks it should be freed. I solicit your comments--bein' tough like a kaboy, I kin take it. thxnregards mm

your scope is rotated 90 degrees anti-clockwise. knobs should be top, and to right, looking through the scope.

Knobs can be in any position you want provided the user remembers to ignore the factory markings. Some prefer to mount scopes on FAL's the way the OP shows. This keeps the brass from hitting the adjustment knobs.

Hmmmmmm, didn't notice knobs; then, again, I didn't mount the scope, and that wasn't the drift of original query. I solicit comments on utility of assembly in testing builds. thxnregards mm
