Ballistics question

Alright, fellas. I am not a ballistics expert by a long shot, so I could use a little help. I am trying to figure out whether a 7.62 BDC or 5.56 BDC would more closely approximate the trajectory of full power 147-150 gr bullets fired from my 16" DSA SA58.

Normally I wouldn't have questioned this, but I have heard that the 16" barreled 308s tend to have ballistics more akin to a 5.56. Is there any truth to this?

I ran this data which should approximate nato loads, what's the velocity from your 16" barrel?

It has been proved repeatedly here that there is no real-world difference between a mil-spec 7.62 and 5.56 trajectories when using the different SUIT cams. I find it reasonable to suspect that therefore, there is no discernible difference between the two, given similar ranges and zeros.

Makes sense. I've heard te same but never had a ballistics guru confirm it. Figured I would check with the experts before dropping a lot of money on glass.

Don't have a chrono but I have read the 16 inchers get about 2550-2600 at the muzzle. How do I read your chart?

Thanks guys. Be safe.

I assume you will be comparing the drops at various distances in the Bullet Path (inches) columns, here is the data at 2600 fps.
