New to me G1

Just purchased a G1 on an Imbel upper. Not going to be able to get it home until the end of the month. It does need a good cleaning but the barrel is FN. Rifling looks pretty good too. I need a wood but stock, but other than that it all looks correct including the flashhider attachment. Bbl is lugged. Handgaurds, bipod and charging handle look right too. Traded a DSA STG58 for a late M1A about 15 years ago. Worst trade I ever made. I am very happy to get back into the FAL world! I will post pics when I get the rifle home.

Damn shame about that StG.

Welcome to the Files Kilo, and hang on to that FAL this time.

Member Flypaper makes awesome FAL wood and Yellowhand might have something you will like.

Thank you sir, I will follow your words of wisdom! Just picked up 5 metric mags to go with the 2 that come with the rifle.

Another alternative is Iron Wood .... send Matt an email and he will tell you what he has.

Although not historically correct for a G-1, I prefer the wood stock for the rubber pad.

Beautiful stuff! Thanks 4mark. I will definitely keep them in mind. I will go see Mr. Graham at the next show here in Phoenix to see what he has too. I guess it all comes down to what the rifle does when I get it out on the range. So far I have 8 mags. One is Izzy and 3 look like a stg mags. I have 4 dsa mags too. Anyone have any feed back on the dsa mags?

Yes, mostly all bad and best avoided. I have heard of a few members grinding the Mag. Catch notch to get them to lock in while others have had no such luck.
If they work in your rifle, consider yourself fortunate.

Welcome from out Buckeye way! Congrats on your new to you FAL. I traded a M1A for my Rhodie clone (i used to have an STG also, sold it) and horse traded for my second! When you get it let me know if you want to go shooting and we'll figure out a day to go.

Thanks Mainer, I should have asked before buying! Seems I only have 3 dsa, not 4. I did manage to pick up another military steel mag and an aluminum para today. Under $40 for both, takes some of the sting out of the dsa mistakes. Sounds good Ron, Ben Avery ok? I have an M1 that needs to be shot too.

Ben Avery works for me, just have to figure out when.

Sometime towards the end of the month when I pick it up. If I can wait that long.
