I'm not sure what you guys are grousing about. Only bank, not federal contributions to HAMP principal reductions will count against the settlement. HAMP has been a failure largely because there was little incentive for the banks to throw 60% of the principal reduction at some morons who couldn't pay their debts. To the extent that the complaint was that banks abused borrowers broadly by foreclosing on the morons who couldn't pay their debts and a principal reduction is an appropriate remedy encouraging banks to reduce principal is not a bad settlement. Please explain what other settlement you would have liked to have seen?

TC - it was a much bigger argument than this one instance - I blamed the banks- including the Fed - Jokker blamed the Chinese manipulating their currency
