Sorry about that, have wife English major for spelling correction.
I have a big heavy barrel attachment.
Back end looks to go around a lug. Front end appears same size as bullet.
It's differant than others i have seen. Fatter and outside spins around inner part.

Can't post here can all other forums not here.

some dude on GB had a few Izzy "rockets" listed a few weeks back ... fit the STG FH just right ... I pissed around and missed 'em all ... $29.00 IIRC ...

Shirley, someone on this board got one or 3 ... post a pic and sell me one please ...

they looked similar to the one above but were "white" I believe ...

When we shoot these things, we have to first paint them flurescent orange so that we can find them later! They go completely out of sight in the air, so you gotta have a lot of area to fire them. Be careful!

Austria (and also Switzerland and others) use the "long" European spec 22 mm rifle grenades. In 1961 the NATO member countries adopted the "short" US spec 22 mm rifle grenades. This is the reason for the difference in the length of the flash hiders between the STG-58 and shorter FAL combo flash hider.

someone with training and knowledge please explain something ...

the dude in the ("Great") photo (BTW), is this the proper position to hold the FAL for launching said "rocket" ... ???

also what exactly is he using as a reference in conjunction with the grenade sight ladder ... ??? ... if you look at his eyes the angle is wrong if he's using the front sight on the rifle ... ???

just curious ...

ETA: Also that's a freakin' M1 or M2 ... ain't it ... ???

was there a special FH for Grenade shootin' on the early rifles ...???

ETA #2: Just thinking about it ... I would probably have "shouldered" the damn thing and "screwed up" ...

Here's an old post by "Treadhead Ted" concerning rifle grenades.

http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showt...Rifle+grenades

He at some point references "bullet trap" RGs. There is another thread somewhere in which he talks about the "Hail Mary" moment (my words, not his) where one first pulls the trigger on a live round with a bullet trap RB affixed to the muzzle of the rifle and pray that one is not immediately terminated. Old Ted (EMDII) had some interesting posts before he left the Files.

had an Izzy practice grenade about 9-10 yrs ago. found em on line somewhere at the time. Had a solid rubber head and screw on tail. Blanks that came with it were too wimpy. Sounded like a cork gun going off and didn't even make it across the back yard. So..... I decided to make my own blanks. Worked em up slowly to where they would launch it 150-200 yds. But of course that wasn't enough. Last one ended up with me on the ground and the grenade was last seen going over the trees at 600+yds. Oh well, it was a fun few days!

The flip up South African sight has 3 apertures with 3 distances, sight is flipped up and one must co witness top of round part of grenade thru similarly shaped aperture, 6 o clock hold. Launched using explosive blank round, had TNT flakes and kicked like hell. Later grenades were m26 configuration with bullet trap, same for r4 and Fal , only difference was the plastic sight that attached to side of grenade fin, one for 7,62 one for 556, hope this helps.

TNT? In a grenade blank? First I've ever heard of this.

There are two standards of 22 mm rifle grenades, European and US. The European version is longer than the US version. NATO standardized on the shorter US version in 1961. NATO member countries then went to the shorter version. The difference can be seen by looking at non-NATO country rifles from Austria and Switzerland.

I found a couple of vendors who had Izzy practice grenades back in October. One guy is set up in the side sheds to the right of the pole barn, about 2/3 of the way down. He sells a lot of Israeli odds-and-ends and had a grenade for $35, I think.

The other guy is in the pole barn, on the same side and not far from where Raj(Did I get his name right? The guy who used to set up with Pat)has his tables. This guy had a box of $15 practice grenades but they were a lot more beat-up than the $35 one. Most were missing tail fins or had bent tubes. I grabbed the nicest-looking one in the box and you can see what the fins look like in my pics.

Lets not forget the FN Bullet-Thru Rifle Grenade which was once called the Telgren. I believe it was the best of the rifle grenades because there was no need to use a blank to launch it you just fired one of your 7.62 NATO rounds and away she went.

I have an old Soldier Of Fortune mag around here somewhere with an article about them and a few pics of the grenade on an FAL. If i can find it i'll post the pics.

Again, check out the link I posted in post #19 of this thread that referenced some posts by EMDII, who had first-hand experience with bullet trap rifle grenades fired from the FAL.

I wish Ted still posted here.

The ones we shot at the FAL match were white plastic.

I may still have one here someplace.

Like these?

I found one at Knob Creek back in the spring but haven't launched it yet. If I had last month it would have landed in the next county, as the heavier MK14 went 356 yards.

I bought a complete case of those white/black ones from SARCO (IIRC?). It came in a wooden crate and had 6 complete RGs and a shitload of repair parts (fins, tubes, etc)

I gave them to friends and kept 2 for myself, then lost the two I kept. I still have all the spares if anyone has any of the RGs and wants repair parts.....

anybody out there would like to see to it that their orphan rifle Grin aide does not become extinct? what would really be kewl would be if I can start putting together the bullet trap that means these don't need to be fired by blanks anymore.

That's them!

They only went to about 100 yards with my blanks.

There are several different rifle grenades types that are not interchangeable. Even among 22 mm rifle grenades there are several types.

There is the, "long" European design used by most European countries before NATO standardization in 1961. This design continued in use in non-NATO countries such as Austria and Switzerland.

In 1961 NATO standardized on the, "short" 22 mm US-designed rifle grenade.

The body length difference between these two designs can be seen in comparing the Austrian STG-58 flash hider to the later Belgian FAL combo flash hider.

Yugoslavia designed and adopted a 22 mm rifle grenade design that does not safely interchange with any of the other 22 mm rifle grenade designs.
