GEW 1 Reciever
Last night finally got around to timing and barreling up my BGS barrel to the DSA G1 receiver. 1.630 HS guage. Matched BGS bolt and carrier and shoved all in my smallest on hand .252 pin guage- wont fit. Stuck a .250 calipered 1/4 bit in and was almost there.
Have any of you run into tight head space on this last batch of DSA G1 receivers? It looks like I`m gonna need a small locking shoulder to do this one. I`d really appreciate your comments and thoughts on the last batch of DSA G1 rec`s or regular DSA rec`s if your seeing this small locking shoulder situation. Thanks a Bunch for any input you give me. J R.. |

The last 3 dsa recievers i have built were around .250, so i'd say u are right on track that its that small.

and the best part about using a small LS is....DSA will now happily charge you $50 for that LS because it has to be "custom made" even though it is obviously something to do with their newer batches of receivers.

LS Headspace
Well I hdspaced the barreled G1 rec again since I have smaller pins than my last weeks OH smallest .252 guage. This setup calls for a final .247 LS. So, I know I can contact DSA for a 50 buck LS. Who can I see for one possibly not as much as that? Anyone had one guage in the .40s yet? Thanks for any sugg`s. Best, J R...

I'd try calling DSA anyway. Complain that it is their receiver that is the problem because there was an obvious track record of the size of LS needed shrinking since they changed manufactures. See if they will be nice and keep you happy by selling you one at regular price.

The last 3 DSA receivers I have built have been in the .254 to .252 range.
I got my custom cut LS's from Ed Vandenberg at Vandenberg Custom. Excellent work and reasonably priced. Steve |

+1000 on ED's work. My last two DSA sneeded 250 and 252 LSs. He had them to me in days and the cuts were perfect . Much better price than DSA also.
He's also a member here. go with ED. you won't be dissapointed. OHC |
