Caspian Galil receivers
Is there a way to identify Caspian vs ORF receivers that are used on the Golani/Galil rifles produced by Century?
Any issues with current Century rifles? |

Orf has serial numbers GALXXXX, Kaspian GLNXXXX. No problems with mine, I think for every 100 owners with one that works there is one that is not perfect, and 20 trolls claiming everything Century is junk.

I've got both, Caspian is considered the best option (as stated by others here). ORFs are ok within a certain serial #range (or at least that is what I remember reading somewhere before I bought one). I have fired 3-400 rounds out of each without issue or any unusual wear and tear. Caspian (cast) is easy to tell from the ORF in fit and finnish, the ORF in my opinon looks better.
Do your homework before buying. If I remember correctly, some of the ORFs had heat treating problems and some issues with the locking lug recesses in the reciever. Fitting is the issue I found with the Caspians but this was 2-3 years ago. Last edited by cowbilly; September 17, 2011 at 13:10. |

They all tend to be problematic, it is kind of a crapshoot. The Caspian would be the better choice. With other firearms you would always pics a milled receiver vs. cast, but this is Century. The specs of the cast Caspian receiver seem to be more correct. CNC Warrior would be the best bet and you could avoid the Century stigma altogether. If you did the CNC Warrior, buy a parts kit from Apex and send it to Tenngalil at Galiltalk.com forum. Or if you do buy a Century, or ORF, and you have problems you could still send it to Tenngalil.

CNC warrior only did the Galil .223 and .308 receivers by request with a lot of 100 or so. You probably cannot order an individual receiver. The folks at Uzitalk went through hell on earth to get them made.
If i were you, i wouldn't buy either. Reweld an original, or wait til CNC warrior does another run. But that's just my opinion. |

Did CAI ever sell the Caspian receiver as a separate piece?
