Is that for the entire unit or just the base? Looks pretty cool as long as it doesn't throw zero off...

Don't you need the Z spring to keep the screws from backing out ?

$50 SHIPPED. This adapter is not milled for the Z spring. But other than that ,should fit any metric lower and provide another way to adjust elevation. This add is for the adapter only. HK Sight NOT INCLUDED.New bases are forthecoming for commenwealth FALS and IZZy? Argy.
I'll take one too. The Izzy and Argy bases would be good for short barreled FALs. I presume you've tried the different ranges and they correspond to the range presets on the HK sight?

It seems like Ted can do the Z springs cause he is worthy of being my Mentor. He has been machining from the year I was born in so I guess he can say " I have been running a Bridgeport before you were in diapers." Just got to put in a good word for someone going through the same crap I am.

Just FYI. This sight base is wider than the standard FAL base to accomodate the width of the HK sight. I do not think a standard z spring is going to be anywhere near wide enough to work even if this base was milled for it.

PARA BASE
Update. moded a sight base for para. the only way this will work requires grinding some metal off the rear of the HK sight. So I would sell these with the HK sight modified and mounted for $75 + shipping. I will need a FIRM commitment for 10 of these before I will make them. If interested PM me. I'll post pics of the prototype in a few days. Thanks

FYI update. You'ld think with 65,000 members, 10 sight adapters wouldn't saturate the market. LOL For those on the fence, I have about twenty left, and don't see my self making any more in the future. The HK sight is only about 20 bucks from Roberts rtg. So, if you think you might try one, now would be a good time. For those who bought already, thanks, and maybe you could share your range results. Every Fal Filer, Have a nice Holiday. Tedg

Update: I haven't had the time to make more, being the holidays etc, but I feel the next run will be for the Para model, which will be about $90 shipped, but will include the sight itself. This model seems to draw the most interest. I appreciate all the buyers here on the files, and welcome any feedback as to product improvement. For those potential Para buyers, I'd appreciate a show of hands, for interest, so I'll get some idea how many to make. Thanks again to all and have a happy new year. Tedg, out

Bump for the new year.
Hey Ted I would probably be interested in a Para version for "about $90 shipped which will include the sight itself" depending on your ETA. I assume the diopter/drum is tight and wobble and play free? Also, does it work with a standard Imbel front sight? I bought a fancy DSA Para sight with adjustable windage and the aperture(s) is kind of sloppy in terms of play so I'm really thinking about this cause I only plan on running irons and want something that is good and tight. |

So I received my adapter in the mail, it looks very good, great finish. I wish my G3 sight's finish was as nice. I put the sight on the base so that it fits flush on both sides and torqued down the set screw tight. Then I installed the base to my DSA SA58. I used my micrometer to measure the overlap on both sides to make sure it was centered. It looks great, feels quite familiar (as I spend my days training recruits to use MP5's).
Once at the range, I started at 50 yds, on a bench, using the bipod. My first three rounds impacted ~18 in low. I whip out my H&K sight tool and crank up the drum several turns (I opted to adjust the rear sight as I don't have a front sight tool for the FAL yet). A few more rounds and they're still a couple in low. A couple more turns, a few more rounds, elevation good, move back to the 100yd line. A little fine tuning, slightly to the right, slightly down and bingo. I experimented with the drum settings, no.4, a little unnerving at first to be aiming at the three yard line under the target carrier, but rewarded with a decently tight group 36-40 inches higher that my poa. Overall, happy with the adapter and the G3 sight. I hope to get to out longer range soon to try it out at distance. Rusty
