Hawaiian FAL

My first build. Thanks to members of this forum for all the tips and suggestions in making
this build possible.
This started as numbers matching Imbel kit that I bought at a local gun show.
The mods I did are as follows:
Replaced :
Imbel lower with one that matches the DSA upper radius cut
Original mag release w/ inch type release
Plastic charging knob w/ home made SS knob
Home made BS, PG, HG ( Hawaiian Koa wood )
Homemade flash hider ( still in the white: shoots better than the original, don't know why)
Home made carry handle slot filler
ARMS scope mount / SWFA 10x42 scope
Can't wait for my next build, will be a Para. I already have a para lower, STG and an Argy
barrel. Still haven't decided which one to shorten. Will be looking for a para BC, folding
stock and gas plug etc.
Thanks and ALOHA, Frank.

Nice looking FAL. I didn't know you could have such a thing in Hawaii.

Good job with the handguards, where did you get the original looking metal inserts? Did you remove them from an existing set? What did you use for the handguard screw bushings?

Sir, you may want to consider making furniture for profit. That looks fantastic.
If you do, I will be first in line for a set.

Thanks for the compliments.

The metal inserts came from the fore end of an old inch h/g from L/FN.
I made the h/g screw bushings from a piece of brass rod lying around my garage.
I just copied the old steel screw bushings from the inch h/g and epoxied it to the wood.
I have a small lathe/mill, an Emco Maximat 7, it's really handy for making small parts.
Aloha, Frank

That is one stunning FAL! Beautiful Frank! I agree, it sounds like you could do a nice tidy little business with folks here hungry for good wood.

Eh brah, if I have time to reload some ammo I might go Koko head this Sunday.
Hard to find surplus ammo heh, they're either non existent or too expensive.
The slippah I got cheap, the stoh' in Waikiki was closing.
