How to Break in a Barrel?
How to Break in a Barrel?--- I saw a tutorial here somewhere, put a new barrel on my G1. Anyone know where it was? Thanks.

Yep DSA has one.. but I think the consensus is to just go out and shoot it..

"...Yep DSA has one..."
A number of years ago I put together two FALS from G1 kits. One was to sell, the other was to be for me. On the "good" one I put a DSA med barrel, and free float hand guard. The other the better looking OEM barrel. I carefully broke in the DSA barrel per their instructions etc. Bottom line: After a summer of experimenting with handloads and various commercial ammo I found that the DSA barrel would group so-so, and the G1 barrel quite accurately. I sold the DSA one and still have the G1. Apparently, all the "break in" in the world won't salvage a mediocre barrel.

I would just shoot it and clean it when I got home, but he asked for a tutorial on breaking in a barrel.

Clean the barrel before firing it to remove any crap that remained in the barrel from manufacture, storage, shipping, or installation. Then clean it again when the accuracy falls off. This might be a long time. If you are uncomfortable with this sort of infrequent cleaning, then just pass a brush and a patch through it once in a while. Don't try to scrub every last bit out of the barrel, because it ain't all coming out, and even if it does, more will follow the next time you pull the trigger.
It's a lot easier to damage the barrel with careless cleaning than it is by simply shooting the weapon.
