Early FN made FALO in Argentina and Peru
Those pictures were obtained from an argentine army field manual published in 1960, they show the use by our soldiers of the early version of the FN made FALO (FAL LOURD - Heavy FAL) also known in spanish FAP (Fusil Automático Pesado), I dont know yet if the FMAP made under license the FAP in this configuration.
The color picture shows a group of peruvian infantrymen shooting their FAP´s in a range, I count at least four or five earlier version FN FALO´s (see Blake Stevens page 267, figures 229 to 232). I hope to get a pic of the venezuelan FALO in wich is very rare, I found many pics of the Chavez´s Milicias Bolivarianas armed with FAL´s, but not with FALO´s yet.

Those are some great pictures! I thought all Falo rifles were originally equipped with the small hand-guard.
Now you have me wondering if the t-48 hand-guards made by our own Larry F/N will work on my Falo clone project that I am slowly piecing together.

wonderdog451,
I think they will work without problem, two issues, one the barrel channel (must be wider), second the metal hardware. BTW, the flashider is hard to find, see my topic: http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showt...hreadid=312817 EX1 said that it is the holy grail of the FALO FH, and he´s right !!!. Good luck with your project Cheers |

I guess I will have to settle for my Belgian made Falo flash-hider then.

The T48E1/ HB handguards will replace a common Israeli HB h-grd as they both use a screw that goes through the gasblock.
The short FALO h-grds are secured in a different way at the front.

The T48E1/FALO handguard is different than a standard barrel T48 handguard.

Those are very nice pictures FSL! Any idea of the year were taken? In 1973 during my Military Service I saw many FAPs but were the later style with the short wood handguard and never saw the early style or the ones with the FALO black plastic handguards......

Argentine Falo
The pictures of the One piece handguards are for the T48 that FaNatical posted, Not the NON T48 handguards, Difference is that the NON T48 handguards have the sling swivel mount on the barrel,No provision on the Handguard. T48 has the sling swivel mount underneath half way backon the handguard like the pictures that FaNaticAL! posted. In some of the T48 Trial rifles they were supplied both ways but never adopted for USA. To make the earlier T-48 style bipod assembly you'll have to take the legs off of an Isreali bipod, Weld up the Isreali cartouches and machine flush and adapt it to a Belgium Mount and install the feet of the later belgium Bipod legs and weld the Isreali flash hider to the Isreali coupler and remachine round were its welded, So it means scarificing two different bipods and two different bipod couplers. It can be done, But will be very expensive with parts and welding and remachining and refinishing. I've discussed this with L/FN and he concluded the same as trying to find early T-48 or even the G-Series Falo bipod assemblies which are the same are VERY VERY VERY RARE.
Here's what I'm building using the following, Argentine type two receiver and lower modified to type two lower on the backing plate, Argentine Falo wood buttstock with Belgium flip up butt plate assembly, Early Belgium Falo Barrel with open earred gas block with one piece HB handguard and the modified as described above flash hider/Bipod assembly to make an Argentine Falo rifle. It will be about 1K cheaper than trying to buy one of the Imported Argentine Falo's that sold recently for 2700.00 that was listed on Gunbroker and sold at the gunshop that has it, It didn't sell on Gunbroker.
