COONAN is RISING to the TOP!!
Well we all pretty much knew the new COONAN type III receivers were just about PERFECT! Well now they have done it again! The new COONAN type I-C has hit PERFECTION in my eyes!! This COONAN receiver is the SCHITE!!
Coonans, desire to reach perfection from the front office to the shop has paid off, they have, SUPER MANAGMENT great sales people, and THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE department in the business! Yes I am talking about Ms.Connie, call and talk to her yourself!! Well All holes align perfectly, locking should fits properly, finish is PERFECT! NO machine marks, no BS spotty welds...... Like it or not COONAN is MOVING STRAIGHT to the TOP!! LaC PS: they will also customize your serial numbers and presently working on the proper text/font for the G1 and BGS rifles! As soon as the G1's are complete I will have one on order THAT DAY!!!!

I used a couple DCI Type I s years ago they were good receivers, Dan makes the best Cast receiver ever. If your looking for a Late Belgium FAL the DCI type III is a great choice. If your looking for a forged our Type I, II or III is a great receiver and the Imbels are beautiful type III's as well. A forged type III is easier to make good looking, but forged type I or II is another story altogether.
The FAL is such a scaled down platform that even when its made blocker to save machine time its still a slender weapon.

DSA makes pretty decent receivers but if you want to shout about it, go start a thread of your own. Barely disguised snarky comments about cast vs forged receivers don't play well with me & I might guess more than a few other customers who have had some bad experiences with DSA in the past. DSA & you would be better served by taking the high road & avoiding any comment on Coonan receivers as they have consistently had both high levels of QC & customer service. That's a business model that DSA could learn from........

Gee George--you read it the same way I did.
Problem with DSA is you can pay your money, you never know when they are gonna ship. I would rather see DSARMS_REP spend his time to improve the image DSA currently has. It's spotty as all hell and more of a crap shoot with each and every order--the rifles too. There was a review of a DSA rifle here about two weeks ago. Why don't you guys fix that guy up, DSARMS_REP? No, you blow that guy off but have the time to turn this glowing review of a competitors product into a rah rah for you guys?? No class.

I find it VERY disturbing that a SO CALLED "REP" would join just this month, maybe in the last 3 days or so and start telling us HOW GREAT their product is. This just shows a very high LACK of CLASS on the "DSA REP" to post in a competitors REVIEW thread! Now on the other hand, is he really a "DSA REP" or just some ASSCLOWN here to FLAME a THREAD????? LaC

DSAREP gave Coonan a compliment the way I read it. If it was a slam against Coonan then he failed.
Back on topic here. I can't wait to get a couple of these new type 1s from Dan. Now if we can just start getting complete kits brought in for 99 bucks again then I would be in heaven. |

Im glad that the Coonan receivers are getting great reviews. Anyone that makes a good product for our hobby or pasion and doesnt try to sell their product by crapping on some else should be commended. I have had nothing but bad experiences with the "OLD" DCI receivers, and after saying this I must also in all fairness say that the DCI receivers in question were not purchased by me and the origin of these receivers was somewhat obscure, Later I was told that they were factory rejects that were sold as is, I can not confirm that. So looking forward to more great reviews on the "NEW" DCI receivers. Will consider one on a build based on the experiences of much more saavy builders here on the files.

We appreciate any good FAL part. Like the Vltor Rail Handguard that while from a competitor is still a great FAL product. The DCI type 1 looks nice like ours do too and we like to give credit where its due.

I've had good experiences with both companies except for one time. I called DSA about my disappointment with an STG58 lower that came on an STG58 rifle that I ordered from them. The rep was a jerk. He said that if I wanted a nice one, I should have ordered an SA58. I told him that he was an asshole and hung up on him. That was a few years ago and I think that he's gone now. I've ordered receivers from DSA since then but no complete rifles.
I haven't decided if I'm going to use Coonan T1s or DSA T1s for my two BGS builds. I'm more inclined with forged receivers but the Coonans look pretty damned good! I used an older Coonan T1 on an STG58 build a year or so ago. It went together real nice but I still like my DSA T1s and T2s better. I did have a small issue with one of my recent DSAs T2s, but it was handled well by DSA. Hell, anyone who loves the FAL enough to provide decent parts is a saint in my book! Coonan and DSA, keep on keeping on!!!
