One of my favorite Colt's revolvers-1920 Officer's .38
I told you guys that if you keep posting those nice old Colt's, that I would dig one out.......
![]() A ca. 1920 Colt Officers .38 with factory adjustable sights. She shoots nice and feels great. I am a Smith man, but these original finish old Colt's just call my name. Leland Last edited by FUUN063; April 24, 2011 at 23:40. |

Is this what we'd call a "buntline?"

No, not really. Buntlines were single action derivatives of the 1873 model, IIRC. Like the six guns of the old West with an extra long barrel such as 8", 10" or even 12" models. Some of those even had buttstocks made for them. I used to have a 10" Buntline back when I seriously collected the Colt's models. I have since sold it along with many others that I regret selling. But alas, I needed to build a new home for my then-growing family. I now possess only four Colt's revolvers and a few automatics. This model is a single/double action, being a pre-model to the "Match" series of revolvers that Colt produced years later. I still think that this was one of their best revolvers ever made, but maybe I am a little partial to it, though. I have a couple of the Match models as well. It really is a toss up between them.

Sweet, thanks for sharing. I like an old Colt. It is funny how sometimes you can sneak into them cheap while guys are watching Smiths. I like a nice S&W, no question but am not going to pass up a Colt. I still can't get over the very good condition 1950s 4" Official Police .38 I bought at an auction a couple of years back. I got it for $145 and a similiar but beat condition S&W .38 went a few minutes later for $240. I just don't get it. I honestly like shooting the old Official Police as much as my Python!
