Best source for M1 gas cylinder
I'm on my second return to Numrich of unserviceable M1 gas cylinders. Both appear to be either well worn or have been bead blasted. First one looked like it was hammered on, and was useless. Second one shows some signs of hammer damage as well, but still fails when tested with the gage. (gage below surface, when it should protrude.)
Where can I find a serviceable M1 gas cylinder without feeling like I'm the first one who has ever inspected it? Any leads appreciated. HD |

Quite a few on Gunbroker.....some new Springfields even. Be prepared to pay out the nose tho. Lots of used ones also.

Also, make sure your piston is no less than 0.525" in diameter.

Thanks JWB, everything checks out within specs but the cylinder on this one.
Good news is that I found a new in box gas cylinder (South Korean manufacture in the 1980's) at Chestnut Ridge Supply. Since this is a shooter and not a restoration, that should work just fine. HD |

What type of Garand Gas Cylinder are you looking for?
Early, Late USGI? Spring, Win? Italian- BMB, PB? http://www.chestnutridge.com/products/garand.asp http://fulton-armory.com/m1garandparts.aspx http://www.garandguy.com/M1source2.html http://www.m1garandrifle.com/Garandparts.htm http://www.usarmory.com/catalog.asp?PAGE=2 These aren’t in any order so take your pick. If you are looking for a specific type you could post on the CMP Forum.
