Olympic arms scope mount?
Checking out a shop today looking for something else. (Walked out with yet another Mosin
Anyway, as I was checking out I noticed a scope mount on the window ledge and inquired about it. I had jawed 30 minutes with him about Mosins, of which this dealer had little knowledge, and had helped him with a C-93 issue. Anyway he told me to take it! Olympic arms stamped on the side. One of the big bulky mounts but heck it was free and I like my FAL with open sights better. I just want to see how well it works. I haven't heard of this one while I've been checking in to mounts. What is the scoop on them? Olympic Arms stamped on the side. 3 screws underneath to attach to the upper. |

This is for a FAL top cover? Olympic Arms made those for a couple of years in the early 1990s; production had ended a few years before the company got involved in building the rifles. Apparently it was something else they could do with the extruding machines; they can't have made too many of them, and they for sure didn't make any money on them. It should work fine, but as you noted, it will be on the large and heavy side.

It is double the size it needs to be if it would have been made to fit the upper only. It is a little heavy but will be fine for a little scope shooting then come off for a refinish to the entire rifle.
