?? on Garand parts
The gas nut or screw that goes into the end of the gas cylinder has spring loaded valve type thing in it. I can't seem to come up with a good reason for it other then it may prevent a vacuum from being created in the cylinder but I think the gas port in the barrel would do that. Anybody know?

When used with the M7 grenade launcher, the valve is held open, disabling the gas system so the grenade launching cartridge doesn't damage the rifle.
