SA wood stock????'s
I have a South African stock, maybe went through one of you guys' hands at one time. Is there any worth with one in such shape? The repair to the hump is very rough and different in color and texture. It has a nice rack number near the tang cut out. It has been refinished but there is still green paint in some of the dents.

Because of the repair it will most likely be sold as a bargain for a few bucks. I would think the hardware is worth more than the wood.
You never know what sells and at what unseemingly price in the Marketplace. $30-$50

I think it depends, yes in general it is much less desirable with the repair but if the wood stands proud of the buttplate and ferrule hardware I think that is what matters most to me. I'll take a dented/repaired stock any day over a great looking stock that leaves the buttplate sticking out. Your buttstock would look great on a battle worn Rhodie rebuild.

You could hide that repair with a some baby poop camo so it's less noticeable.

Look like a typical repair job. a horizontal repair light wood with some dark wood in between.
![]() This has the same looking repair,,but there was no cracks or anything. Don't know if it was a P.M. thing or what. I have a couple more of stocks with the same looking repair. |

I've repaired and used several wood butt stocks. Gives the gun character. BTW SA wood is actually Belgian the home grown R1s were only outfitted with synthetics.
