Here you go, whats this? LOL
I did post these pics on another site I frequent, but I like to hear from as many people as possible and get as many opinions to hear.
Just picked it up in a trade, it's the first FAL I've ever owned. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

A very serious mutt. Entreprise type III upper receiver, FN G1/StG type I lower receiver, Imbel barrel, short Stoll, Izzy handguards, and a global smorgasbord of small parts. If you like it and the price was right, more power to you. Those kinds of mutts used to be VERY common back when parts were cheaper and more plentiful. I built many. Nowadays the value is in 'correct' builds, but seriously, if you are happy with it then rock on.
I suggest you have someone who knows what they are doing check the headspace before you fire it. Not all garage builds are alike. Some are dangerous, and some look damn good while being dangerous. We've had those kinds around here.

Welcome to the addiction, Looks nice, the rear sight is on proper (not everyone gets that right
) lower seems to be a STG type one, nice. Type 3 receiver manufacturer? I dont know, but someone will. If it shoots like a FAL, that means "good" boom every time you squeeze the trigger, functions without any quirks, and can group MOM (Minute Of Man) at 300m . You got yourself a really good Frankenfal. Someone else will brief you on the ground rules for rifle pics ![]() Cheers |

Yeah, sorry forgot to post that. It is an Enterprise. Thanks for all of the comments so far, I appreciate it.
I haven't fired it yet actually. Was gonna try that next weekend off. I'm certainly not looking to win any beauty contests with it, just want a shooter is all. |

Interesting FrankenFAL. Or, mutt.
But, we kind of LIKE things like that around here. The only thing I don't like is that tan paint ?, or whatever it is. Add a little rattle can striping and it'll it will give it a bit of "character". It's still a nice rifle, despite the color. Have you fired it yet ? |

Yeah it's Duracoat.
No I haven't fired it yet. The guy I got it from said he used it as a hog gun when he and his father in law would go hog hunting. |

Looks like a fun FAL. Whatever you do, don't paint the wood handguard to match the rest of the rifle. It's an Israeli Light Barrel model (as opposed to the Heavy Barrel) which is fairly desirable to someone building a retro Izzy FAL. I'm sure another board member would be happy to take it off your hands, and you can find any number of black plastic handguards available to match the rest of your furniture.

Yes, I had actually thought of putting the black handguards on instead.
I'm so FAL ignorant so far, I dunno what will fit in the Israeli handguards place lol. |

Peconga is right , save the Izzy light barrels handguards the way they are. just get a set of color matching furniture, leave whats black , black. I would get a proper combo device sometime in the future, but there is nothing wrong with the short Stoll that's on there. I think at one time DSA was selling rifles that were painted that way. Just dont drop it in the sand at night , camo on rifles makes them hard to find
. Just like thermos bottles when hunting.......

Pretty much any hand guards will fit. Only one I can think of off-hand are the Heavy Barrel hg's, and you're not likely to want those anyway.
Nice blaster.

If you think you'd prefer standard hand guards instead of the Izzys, you can find them pretty cheap here on the marketplace. 30 seconds to swap them. I bet the Izzys will grow on you, though. I think they look badass. The light barrel ones like you have do command a premium on the market, partly because of guys like me who want them on our frankenfals.
I'd offer to trade you a set - Imbel w/reparked metal, reparked all metal stg/g1, or brand new DSA, BUT you can sell your Izzys for more than any of mine are worth.

I'd be willing to take those Izzy handguards off your hands - for the right price, of course. I'll also warn against getting that Duracoated barrel too hot, or else it will burn off!
Seriously, let me know about the handguards.

Wow, took 15 posts before a "mag foul" was noted.
It looks well enough built, do have the headspace checked before you fire it. Before you know it, you'll be dumping your other firearms in order to buy and build more FALs. In my case it began with an Izzy, then kinda exploded from there. I have so many spare parts I could most likely build anouther shooter if I had an extra receiver. It's an addiction, don't resist, it's totally hopeless to fight the urge. Welcome to the Files, it's a great place to learn all things FAL.

Yeah, he won't have any trouble getting rid of those handguards...
Everyone, including me, will offer to trade him a set of black ones. |

Of course the OP could also do what most FAL Filers would do in this case, which is simply replace the Israeli LB handguards on the Desert Sand FAL(1) with black plastic ones, and set aside the Izzy HGs to use on FAL(2). Once FAL(2) is completed to taste, he could then apply any leftover parts from it to FAL(3), and so on iteratively until death, divorce, or bankruptcy ensues.
