Metric FAL trigger issue

I have an Imbel FAL CAI model. I bought it and never really shot it much. I took it out this weekend and adjusted the gas system correctly. But now it will fire its first round, eject the casing, strip the 2nd round from the mag and chamber, then I go to pull the trigger and it seems mushy and will not fire. The hammer is back but the trigger won't get it to work. I worked the safety selector up and down alittle bit, but it didnt help.

When I took it home and stripped it down, I can take a pin and put alittle pressure underneath the hammer and it will help to engage it.

I have read this is a common problem, but it is hard to locate the exact issue through this board.

Do I need a HST, or compelete HST and spring set from Falcon? The safety selector looks like it has been ground on. Do I need to get a new selector also?

I am new to FAL's but I have several AR Platforms. Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the trigger reset spring/plunger assembly might be weak or dirty. That's the first thing I'd check. Did you push the trigger forward to see if it would reset?

Selector ground on, well, it depends on what was taken off. Pics, or a better description, would help.

Another thought, did it work ok before you adjusted the gas? How did you determine the correct gas setting?

Inch or metric lower?

CAI has CRAPPY HTS installed in theirs. Polishing the trigger return pin (inside the spring at the back of the trigger). If that doesn't then replace the HTS with a quality set.

It wasn't working correctly before I adjusted the gas, I just didn't think it was resetting the hammer completely. So I adjusted the gas just to make sure it was fully cycling. I will pull out the hammer return spring and see if I can clean it up. Thanks for the quick replies.

Anyone still let me know your thoughts.

Trigger reset, not hammer. It's the little nubbin looking thingy behind the trigger.

Can you duplicate the problem by hand cycling the action?
