What the Democrats and Media did not tell us about START
At some point that fine line between monumental incompetence/stupidity and outright treason that Obama always seems to be walking just does not matter - we pay the price regardless
The START Treaty may at some point result in of WWIII http://obamareport.blogspot.com/2010...ble-to-up.html http://hotair.com/archives/2010/12/2...gally-binding/

They threatened and blustered from the start of the cold war till someone actually called their bluff.
They see Obama as a weak horse, in fact a gelding. Real Hope and Change will come along in 2012 when Obama is fired and served an eviction notice.

Reminds me of the atomic attacks in WWII. We had three bombs and used them all- one for a test, one in Hiroshima and one in Nagasaki. That was it. All the nuclear materal was gone, although they were making more. We needed to be sure the bombs worked (in secret) so if they didn't, we wouldn't look like fools and EXTEND the war. Once we were confident they would work, they were put on display in such a manner that the Japanese gov't couldn't deny the attack (to the people). The Chinese have 3 SSBMs (according to what I have read), maybe 4 by now (sort lof like in LA). While they have other enemies (even in light or our trade with them), we are their chief concern. The US and USSR would set off nuke tests to keep the other guy thinking. We also nearly went to war during the Cuban Missile Crisis when in the 90's we discovered for the first time that the Soviet ground commander and AA nukes ready to go and had the authority on his own to launch them. While I hope we contiue to skate by w/o a nuke war, I think that probability will catch up to us and some city (or cities) will get creamed. Time will tell. Check back in a few years. And don't underestimate what is going on behind closed doors on this both domestically and internationlally (like wiht whoever did it). Of course, we have Hilary in our corner and Barry backing her (as much as he detests her). I wonder if DoD will ever admit what really happened in LA? Rambling off. |

This last congress and senate had NO business ratifing a treaty with anyone in light of the last elections. Because they DO NOT reflect the will of the voters. One more thing. We need an amendment to the constitution to END lame duck sessions of congress. If they can't vote BEFORE an election, then they damn well shouldn't be allowed to vote AFTER an election. After all, they were FIRED!

"One more thing. We need an amendment to the constitution to END lame duck sessions of congress." We do; it is the 20th Amendment. They ignore it all the time, just like they do the rest of the Constitution.

20th Amendment. Paragraph2: "The Congress shall assemble at least once in every year, and such meeting shall begin at noon on the 3d day of January, unless they shall by law appoint a different day." "recesses" during the year is how they get away with it. Not sure if they made any changes in the USC on this. The constitution allows them to determine times per law written under the constitution. See above quote. Otherwise the constitution itself would have to be amended. Misused. Abused. Maybe even extra constitutional. But there's nothing I see that keeps them from being in recess during elections. So they can come back after the election one more time to stick it to us all before they retire on 100%..... barf. We definitely need something specific in the constitution itself that would prevent a lame duck congress from making any law except in actual emergency and only for that specific emergency. Along with term limits. And the ability to recall senators through the legislatures again.
