My Para broke itself

I went to pop my para open last night to switch out my safety lever, no big deal. After I pulled the lever to break it down the cap that holds the recoil spring broke off and the spring shot it across the room. Didn't look like anything serious was holding it down to the receiver cover, some glue or epoxy maybe? It was one of the ones that came with one of DSA's para conversion kit with the no nose cut I think.

I have one here that did the same thing, it appears to have two spot welds that attached the guide rod to the cover.

I have another one from DSA that that is secured by a bead of weld on each side, never a problem.

A spot weld is always going to be weaker than a bead, but much faster for production

I don't know which mount is newer? Did they change to spot weld for cheap, or did they change to TIG because the spot welds were breaking?

Send it back!

It has two spots on it that look like oil stains on the inside rather than any weld I've seen or reckognized. I dont need the replacement but I'll send it back so they can see thair handy worrk and possibly improve the product.

My buddy had numerous problems with his until he had a custom piece welded up. I dont remember the details but he spent around 200$ on it.

They are called Spot welds - If you have a welding shop close by they can fix it in about 5min

I do know a welding shop near by, but I have another one to slap on in its place so i can hunt something this weekend. I want to get a DSA extended top cover to put on my FAL. I now have hope that the guide rod holds a bit sturdier than this one did.
