Hello Falfiles,
I've got a 16" STG58 with a vortex flash hider on it. Is there anyway to put a bayonet on that thing? I know it seems silly, but I think it would be really fun. I took the bipod off, and put on new plastic handguards. Maybe there is a way to use the bipod cuts in the barrel? Any thoughts would be appreciated. BTW - For some reason, DSA shipped my new handguard with pistol grip (the same as factory) and buttstock. The buttstock is a different shape, but doesn't look that much different (same length of pull, etc). Is there any advantage to swapping that out? [sorry if both of these questions are a little naive. I'm still a noob...] Thanks!!!!!

Yes, if you take off the vortex and put on a proper FAL muzzle device..

You would probably have to swap to the Belgian combo device if you really wanted to put a bayonet on your FAL.
Sounds like DSA sent the a humpback stock, since you mention you have an STG58. Probably just comes down to personal preference with the stock. Your STG stock is what you would find on an Austrian FAL, while the humpback is the Belgian style found on everything else. Post a picture of your FAL when you have the chance. |

This is my FAL. Sorry about the crappy cell phone image. It's the only one I have with me. Is the vortex super crap? I've never shot it at night, so I don't know if it even works...

Your barrel will have to be around 17 3/8" long in order to use the tube style bayonet with a belgian combo device.
The bayonet protrudes pretty far beyond the rear of the combo device and will not be able to lock onto the combo device on a 16" barrel.

you could get an add on bayo lug
http://www.cactustactical.com/osc/ya...ug-p-1085.html may take a little custom WECSOG but you can add it

The add-on bayo lug might be a little more WECSOG than I am willing to try.
I was thinking of one step above duct tape...
