Best Para Kit?
I am looking to put together an 18" Para Fal. Realizing that I have to piece it together I think it would best to buy a standard kit and build from there. Looking at the Imbel kits as a start and finish it up with the DSA Para kit. Any suggestions on which kit to pursue? Thanks!

Sounds expensive. I'd start with the DSA lightweight lower, para carrier, and springs, and buy the rest of the parts in the Marketplace. Parts you need probably can be had for less than the $350 an Imbel kit (generally the cheapest kits you can get) would cost. Individual parts seem expensive, and they are if you buy them one by one, but if you ask, somebody might have all the little goodies you need and make you a decent price.

& strip lower & butstock.

I was thinking a kit would give me a few extra parts as well. Not a bad thing. Would a new Argy kit (SARCO) be a smarter choice considering the parts are new?

I would not use an Argy just for the cost factor. I would find a nice Imbel kit in the 350 dollar range and go from there. I just ordered the Para kit from DSA and am using a Imbel kit for the base. I sold the lower to help offset the cost of the para kit. I still need to have the barrel cut, recrowned and threaded.

Thanks for the replies. I found an Imbel kit in the MP right here! Now, to get on the list with DSA for a PARA kit. I am thinking a Type II reciever as well. Thanks!

Type I it is! Thanks for the heads up! Tried looking at the Falcon set but their site is down or something. Am leaning towards DSA for the Para kit. Thanks!

My local gunshop has a nice Austrian FAL kit,an STG58. It's been sitting on his floor for a couple of years with an asking price of $425. He offered it to me for $400. Is that a decent kit,at a decent price?

Buy a complete kit - it'll be less frustrating (and probably less expensive!) than trying to piece something together bit-by-bit.
Either sell the leftover parts to recoup some of the cost, or use them for building a second rifle

As I don't really understand the differences between the Type I,II,or III receivers, which one would you folks recommend for my STG-58 kit?
Where's the best place to find one?

Under 60k would be a Type I with wood stock, trap cut. Any type will work on any serial range. |
