How my day ended at my gun club

One of the advantages of being a range officer at my gun club is just being outside.

Here one of natures beautiful sunsets.

Need I say more?

It was grey and windy, but warm, at my range today.

I took my new FAL to the range yesterday..here in south Louisiana it was a glorious fall day; temps in low 60's, cloudless sky and almost no breeze. The kind of day on which God intended FAL's to be put through their paces.

I was thinking about taking my new Century FrankenFAL to the range today, but the 32-degree temperature and the snow changed my mind a little bit. It's supposed to be colder and more snow the next couple of days, so maybe next weekend. The weather wonks are predicting half a foot of snow and a low temp of 1 (yeah, that's right, 1 degree above zero) by Tuesday. I could play hero and go to the range in spite of the weather, but somehow it isn't as much fun to abuse my body (used to race motorcycles) as it used to be when I was younger. So I think I'll build a fire in the fireplace and think nice thoughts about building a Para FAL instead of freezing my rear off at the range in a snowstorm.

I was supposed to go to the range yesterday. I woke up at 5am puking and losing it from the other end. Spent the whole day walking to the bathroom and curled up on the bed in the fetal position. Feeling better today, but body is sore as hell. Ruined my beautiful weekend off and range time. Oh well could be worse!

Range Day

We got rained out down here, Went to a indoor range and blasted some paper targets with pistols and my Swedish K. CTW, Did you stop in some choke and puke on duty. Hope you get well before going back to work. Take care, Lee.

PS, Gunnut, Nice picture of a Texas sunset for sure.

I'm hoping to get cleared by the doc tomorrow to resume driving followed shortly afterwards by the discharge of lead projectiles. I had minor hernia surgery 2 weeks ago and I am about stir crazy. Hoping to get out the next 2 days and use up some of those 1000 rounds I loaded 1 at a time on my Rockchucker. Pulling that handle was the only thing that kept me sane.

That looks like the Corpus Christi Rifle and Pistol Club. I've been a member there about 4 years now. Great place to go work off some stress.

You guys are lucky, I don't have a range close by. Eagle 1 actually started building one not far from here but the local dirty rat county government put a block on it and then went and passed a bunch of regulations that pretty much made it impossible to build a gun range anywhere in the county.
I do have a big field down in the woods that belongs to my neighbor but he is getting old and if something happens to him I would probably loose that.

The Arlington Sportsman Club is a 35 mile drive for me. I live on the far nothwest side of Fort Worth. But it is the best club in the FWD area. (Fort Worth Dallas)

gunut, have youever been to the Adrenaline Testing Ground shooting facility? I've heard about it but have not yet been able to see in person. It sounds like a fun place to shoot...
