unammo.com and strumgewehr.com. Probably not boxer...
That's a good price on DAG, though... |

When AIM put Tula/Wolf on closeout I figured they wanted to dump it in favor of something better. Now I know.

I ordered 3 battle packs for the time being. S & H was @ $20 to TN. I can almost afford to shoot my rifle again!

That's a good price.
I was selling DAG for $75. a battle pack at the gun show last weekend and moved a couple thousand that way while a guy 3 rows over had it for 90. I ended up with some loose so i sold 800 rnds DAG loose in ammo cans for 250. I sold several South African battle packs for 50. each and a guy in my row had it at 85. I turned around and bought a bunch of Lake City M855 on strippers in cans for cheaper than anyone else has. |

A few months ago I bought three cases of the DAG ammo AIM had for sale. When I checked the battlepacks, all of them were marked with DAG lot numbers. Then, DAG was out of stock for a while. After seeing it was back in stock a few weeks ago, I bought another case. I finally got around to opening the box this morning only to discover that what AIM is shipping now as DAG was marked with MEN lot numbers. They're packaged in the same green vinyl and superficially appear to be otherwise equivalent to my previous cases.
Is there any significant difference between the two types? |

I just checked, the 5 battle packs delivered 2 weeks ago are MEN also. I have another 5 being delivered tomorrow. Any reports on the MEN ammo?

I'm curious as well. Who has gotten DAG from Dan's? Condition of the battlpacks and any signs of tarnish?

I checked out the pic's on Dan's website of the DAG, that is the same ammo I got last year, I compared the headstamp. I'm guessing that the photo is old.
I also checked out AIM's pic's and it's right there on the ammo box 94 MEN. All reports I have read about the current "DAG" has been excellent. I am surprised no one has posted they received MEN, including myself. I didn't notice it until I saw it in this post and I've had the ammo for 2 weeks. Just checked Copes distributing, they list DAG 308 but the pictures are of MEN 94. How many people are shooting MEN ammo and not noticing that it isn't DAG? |

Ok, I checked the head stamps on the stuff I just got from AIM and it's MEN94H0010.
*berdan primed (2 flash holes) and a green sealant around the primer. I shot a few rounds yesterday goofing around. I'm going to try to get back out there today and sight in my new scope. Last edited by Dolvio; November 10, 2010 at 04:56. |

anyone think ammo prices will continue to fall? A couple months ago I got a case of SA at .30 a piece, that's the pulling the trigger point for me right now. Wolf .223 if now 189/case from aim, some thought 200 was the cheapest it would get. I say hold out a little more.

The SPR is a tad too high. Mark LaRue recommend the Low 30mm rings for FALs, I guess he knows a thing or two after all. I'll probably replace the SPR soon.
*and out of 200 rounds only one fail to feed and I think it was the mag. It was the last round in the mag, it went bolt over base and pinched it against the feed ramps. Last edited by Dolvio; November 25, 2010 at 14:50. |

Was the MEN ammo in good condition or did it show signs of corrosion?
I took a look at the one 20 rd box of DAG (back from when AIM was selling DAG and not MEN) I have open and there were a few rounds (3-4) with small corrosion marks, but nothing which would make me nervous to shoot it. I expect this is probably typical of this lot of ammo. As I mentioned earlier, I recently purchased a case of MEN from AIM. I would prefer to leave it all sealed up if I can as it is intended to be part of the stash for fighting off the zombie hordes, but if it's corroded, I'll shoot it up and buy something else. I really don't want to be shooting at zombies with lousy ammo. Inquiring minds want to know. |

there may be a surplus now, but with commodities prices going through the roof... prices ant going much lower IMHO.

I have seen no corrosion in the 2 MEN bps that I've opened. I would think they're safe to keep sealed for a while.

If my math is right, the 2.5" group would have opened up to around 3.3" at 100 yards. So I can easily accept 3.3 moa with my FAL across a hay field.
I may take and shoot some of that through my Tikka T3 lite to see how it does. It shoots sub moa with good ammo. |

Daggity Dag is good stuff. Lets approach this from a mathematical standpoint.
Reloaded .308 ammo = about 35 cents each once you factor in shipping/hazmat/brass Reloaded .308 = lots of time = takes about 10 hours per 1000 if you take 1st time case prep of Military Brass into consideration. Dag = 41 cents a round delivered Dag = ZERO time reloading. Is 10 hours of your time worth $60 to you? It is to me! Dag wins easily. |

Not happy that this may be corroded, however that can be offset if it shoot very well. I can open packs and dump in ammo cans if needed.
How many rounds did you find with corrosion? I opened up 1 pack, some corrosion but nothing like the DAG I got last year. This is minor in comparison. How does it shoot? |

I have 10 BP's, opened one, I will probably leave the rest sealed. The DAG from 93 had 35% - 40% corroded cases, a lot worse then the minor corrosion on these. Will try these on Friday and see how well they shoot.

The DAG i got was corroded and some cases were pretty bad. It all shot fine but was not as presented for sale. The MEN has some corrosion but very minor and not anything to worry about compared to the DAG. Here is a link to corroded DAG wideners is selling, mine was worse then this. Funny but in a 20 rnd box 12 rounds would be like new and 8 would look like the ammo from wideners. It cleaned up easy and shot well.

Well ... I lied ...
... upon close examination and sorting of one BP, I got the following % ... 121 rounds with no corrosion ... 79 with some amount of corrosion ranging from very small spot of green on shoulder or rim to some that will probably go in the garbage ... close to 40% ... too much !! ... poor packaging and storage ... these have been exposed to moisture at some point in time after they were boxed ... the high amount of Chlorates in the cardboard will leach a low concentration of Hydrochloric acid when in contact with water (H2O) ... Still pissed ...

An example of raw material cost not being a factor is for instance a RUNNING 1975 Chevy pickup was/is worth basically the same thru the metal price fluctuation we have seen in the last 5 years. Obviously that is a completely different matter if said vehicle is not running and wasting space.........5 years ago the scrap price wouldn't have paid for the tow........a year ago it would have been worth $300-600 just in scrap. I understand your point but most of this surp ammo is considered to be expired ammo and fairly weak resale due to it being X51. When I say weak resale on 7.62X51 in particular is because non NATO countries generally don't use much if any X51 or 5.56. "Rich" countries will just pay for "fresh" ammo. So basically on the international market X51 surplus is a hard sell. On the other hand X39 and 54R are expensive and lucrative compared to its relatively bad quality. I am betting your right about it not changing alot more because just like Eric said even at .40 a round its alot better than the very slight cost advantage of reloading. I venture to say we see .25 in a year or 2 IF the supply is strong. |

Shot some of the MEN 94 today out of a Remington 700 along with Port, Aussie and DAG. All of the ammo shot well with the Port and Aussie the best. The DAG and MEN shot about the same, good accuracy but not tight like the Aussie and Port.

AIM is now sold out of German 7.62x51, but they do have Prvi Partizan (Serbian) ball for $447.50 + S&H/1000 (price/rd is higher if you buy fewer rounds). This stuff is new production and is boxer primed. I haven't shot any PP, but reports are that it's good stuff.

PP is good to go. I have their 147gr boxer-primed stuff and I can get 2 MOA with iron sights, at 100yds, with a M1A. It tightens up considerably at 50yds to around 1.5 MOA (so that's my eyesight differential to give you an idea). It also has sealed primers and I suspect sealed case mouths. Burns pretty clean, too. Good stuff. The brass is 7.62NATO mil-spec, keep that in mind reloaders.
