I have a new DSA Para that I'm having a problem with disassembly. I want to separate the upper from the lower. After breaking open the rifle I am trying to take out the screw that holds them together, but it just goes round and round. It won't tighten or loosen. Help please. Thank-you.

newness....take a screwdriver to unscrew it, while pushing on the other side to keep it from rotating...should break free....after a while the new will wear off and it will be easier....

I appreciate your response, but I have tried everything I know to break it loose.
I put penatrating oil on it a few minutes ago and I'm going to let set until morning. Thanks! |

You ARE holding the part of the hinge pin on the opposite side of the receiver to keep it from spinning as you attempt to unscrew it, yes?
Welcome to the Files!

Thanks for the welcome, yes I am. I even used a quarter in a vice grip and I could not get it loose.

OK I know you are scratching your hair out of your head.....One side of the pivot screw is a LARGE slot as pictured here:
The other side should have a VERY SMALL slot. You should be able to use a screw driver in the slot as pictured, and WORSE case use channel locks with a soft cloth in the jaws NOT TO SCORE the opposite side. NORMALLY only slight hand pressure against the back side should allow you to unscrew the pivot screw. I am sure everyone that has read this is thinking the same as I am thinking.....NEVER HAVE I SEEN ONE THIS TIGHT! Although there was one that I did have to bust off come to think of it.....BUT this is rare!! The small slot in the opposite side is the opposite side of the same pin you have your screw driver inserted into. This is a two piece Pivot screw. By morning if you haven't removed it I will gladly make a short video showing how to remove. Don't worry I am sure it isn't that bad, JUST DO NOT screw your pivot pin up out of frustration! LC

Hopefully, I'll get it loose by morning, if not I'll take you up on your offer. Thanks a lot.

Hey guys, I thought I'd give it one more try before calling it a night. It came right off like there was nothing to it. Thanks for the replies!
