After almost 50 years of the longest lasting modern government that Cuba and Central America has known Cuba is now forced to reverse course from a state controlled and regulated society to a entrepreneurial experiment. Fidel Castro won't be remembered as a Communist but a Cuban liberator, I can see the Castro's inviting the Chinese to explain how they utilize entrepreneurs.
Many recent reports have a large Chinese presence in Cuba now.
How long does it take to make a Manchurian Candidate? That's a rhetorical question, I've seen Chinese make other Chinese and it takes the same period of time that was needed to make a Kenyan Candidate.

Slashing of employees is a function of the executive branch. A majority in the legislature can cut funds for employees but not fire them, neither man is now in the majority party.

Obama is now facing a challenge that he sees as the most dangerous he has even encounterd.

That is Cuba heading to capitalism as it trys to dismantle all that Obama wants to build here.

How about we focus on the politicians who created the monster and keep it feed first. Charles Rangel is still a contender, no calls for the notably corrupt to step down(and that list gets longer every week).

I'm with D P Six on this one, the government has their hands in everything, it will take a complete collapse to reverse the current level of involvement. Kind of like a reset button being pushed, it would be painful for everyone, some would not survive as it would incite violence in some areas (when that check stops comming).

Such a scenario is avoidable, it is up to us, best vote and remove those squatters from office.

You promote things without thought. Cut loose 1 million Fed emloyees and see what happens. Instant collapse, we are trying to avoid that...... I thought. It has to be a steady ratcheting down. You seem not to worry about the fools running this country into the ground. That should be everyones focus right now.

I know a good many Federal techs, the vast majority make 20-50K which is not a killing. They also pay for their own health care and pay taxes. Retirement is above average though and I must admit I am jealous of it.

How many jobs have I created?
Lots.
I have owned my own businesses, hired employees, sub contractors etc. Made and spent money in the free market economy WITHOUT any subsities, govt grants, discount window access, student loans, pell grants, SBA loans, welfare, purchased tax breaks or ANY other assistance from anyone.
Providing products and services that the free market needs creates jobs and a healthy economy, creating jobs the free market doesn't need doesn't.

Federal spending is KILLING our capitalist system, the free market and the producing taxpayers.
Jeez... what are you a socialist?

The number of Federal employees have grown way faster than the population.
1 in 5 makes now over $100k in salary plus benefits.
The average federal salary is now $71,260, almost $31,000 more than the comparative average private-sector wage plus way better benefits.

Slashing spending is the only way to return to a sustainable economy, we can't just keep printing and borrowing forever.

Lord, does anyone here support capitalism, free markets and small limited govt?

I've hired and subcontracted and had a business for a couple of years too. Your not the only one here who has been there and done that. Everyone contributes to the economy to some degree, some more than others granted.

Don't forget about the Troops who ensured you'd have the freedom to do whatever it is you do or did over the years. If the rest of that "look at me" stuff is true then congratulations and good for you. I used GI bill to go to school but I'm sure you think that is a handout, sure did not feel like one.

If you owned your own business then you probably understand how averages work. Most don't see that average 71K salary as one nut crazy salary will skew your numbers. Everyone agrees that spending is out of control, even viral liberals are admitting to that.

Most everyone here is also pro-freedom and capitalistic in nature. My issue is that your focus is misguided as you chose to attack workers instead of all the other junk that goes on that is pure waste. Our effort should be cleaning out DC and the local politicians. Class envy or blaming state or federal empoyees for the problem accomplishes nothing.

These (average of federal employees) are large data sets, "one nut crazy salary" isn't going to have a significant impact.

Read the bottom of the article and you'll see the error that caused the increase in 100K employess, now 19% of the force. The pay plan is supposedly being phased out in 2012. It looks as though the total figure includes military personnel too, LTCs, COLs and GENs deserve that 100K pay. As for the vast majority under that figure, I say every pay increase a Solider gets is well deserved.

There are a couple of nut crazy increases because of the boss rule. Look up the GS pay scale most are under GS7.

Bottom line, focus on the real problem.

I work for the government. I'll join the private sector when private Armies are authorized... Gross generalizations make people look pretty dim. The vast majority of federal employees are productive and DO NOT support Obama or anything in his regime or the new socialist party.
