This is a microwave with no faraday cage
An LA jail will install this thing to stop fights. It is a microwave that is not contained, except in this case, by the walls of the jail. It works by microwaving the top layer of the subject's skin. While it is suppose to be safe, having tested it on some 700 test subjects, at least one was hospitalized with 3rd degree burns. I guess someone turned up the power....
http://www.aolnews.com/nation/articl...est=latestnews I also understand that they have been using this in Afghanistan as a crow control device. It is also mentioned in "Foreign Enemies and Traitors". I think I read that the street version is good for 800 yds. Sorry I don't have a link. I read several articles about it. One said that an aluminum foil suit would protect a person, but I have accidentially put aluminum foil in the microwave before. Wouldn't want to be wearing it at that particular time. Especially with no power rheostat limit on power. |

Wasn't the "pain beam" something from the original "Star Trek"?

Schlomo,
I think your correct that eventually some of these will be turned over to big city law enforcement. A few well placed rifle rds would put it out of commision though and as long as you are behind cover and not out in the open your fine. Real question is though, will foliage stop its effects? Thanks Thorack

Non lethal methods of enforcing compliance will be thought very humane by those who need compliance to their demands.
Most things that cause me pain even momentarily I tend to want to destroy a little bit. |

ggiilliiee, a mirror would reflect microwave...and light...only difference is you wouldn't be able to see shorter wavelength light through it like a microwave door.

the weakness in this system is clear. think about it for a few minutes. defeating this system does not call for MOA AP rifle fire. it's much simpler to deal with the operator than with the generating device...

Seriously, when microwaved (possibly depending on the frequency), what gets hot is "water" because the molecules are vibrated against each other and this friction causes the heat. In plywood, I don't think there is any moisture, but in plants, especially dripping wet ones, the microwaves would stop pretty much there and absorb the energy. Just my guess though. Any engineers out there? Please quit driving your train for a minute and shed some light on this. Edut fer stuped speling erors. |

The Active Denial System is demo-ed on Future Weapons on the Military Channel by the ex-Seal dude.
Humvee mounted, looks to be on a rotating table with a range of 500 ? yards. Individual persons in a crowd can be targeted with this rig. Likely the "Papa" of the jailhouse version ? |

Anything man made, can be man destroyed. One of the old machinists that taught me the trade, had a phrase he would use on occaision..."he could tear up an anvil in a sand pile"... of course he was never talking about me

Poop happens, Steve.
What fate for those who pick the side against the interest of the American people, and their rights and traditions. It's a fair question for the fair-minded. |

Not being amongst the rabble the weapon is aimed at and being to the flanks and rear areas are always preferable.
Get out of the cities . . .
