Thomas Jefferson had one of the Beys (iirc) visit while he was Prez and it was during Ramadan. Jefferson even had the normal dinner time pushed back to evening so the visiting dignitary could observe his religious custom as they dined. Perhaps that is what TAO is referring to.

Yeah, only a fellow History BA would have the patience (or stupidity) to take the time to do all that - LOL

The first time I read the koran I, after noticing all the negative/hateful language, started folding the corners of pages where the words appeared (probably a stoning offense in islam). Well, after a while it became ludicrous as ever page had a bent corner (and I had to start bending bottom corners too).

So, on the second read-through I just started logging as much info as I could put up with at the time. Leaving out a few terms probably saved me some time. It's tough when every page has something negative to say against unbelievers.

Anyone who has read the book knows that there isn't much "peace" in that religion.

P.S. - I used the "Penguin Classics" version of the koran - I got mine through Amazon.com.

This version was translated by an Egyptian doctor who immigrated to England (if I remember that factoid correctly). So, it's not like some Westerner "mis-translated" the wording.

I've actually heard muhs spokespersons say, live and on-the-air, that the word "infidel" doesn't appear in the koran. I wonder what subtle definition they're using to pass off THAT lie!

That's like saying the name "Moses" doesn't appear in the Bible!

I read the full text of his Ramadan speech and aside from instantly becoming diabetic after the sweet sugar of Barack's Love for the Islamic World, I made a Freudian conclusion:
When the President Barack Hussein Obama says, "Islam has always been a part of America", I don't really know what he's talkng about. Maybe he means Islam has always been a part of him.
