Daewoo rifle mags cheap
Don't know if anyone else has seen this, but CDNN in Abilene, Texas, has factory 30-round steel mags for K2/Max II rifles (or anything else that uses an AR-15 mag) for $9.99. They're new and sealed in the factory rust pack. If you want to take a look at the CDNN website, the link is http://www.cdnnsports.com if you want to take a look at some of the other goodies they have. They also have Argy FN/FAL mag loaders for 3 bucks. I ordered 10 of the Daewoo mags. They aren't listed as Daewoo. That's in the fine print in the mag description. CDNN calls them asian maritime mags.

just a fyi, these aren't daewoo manufactured. these are korean ATI mags. they are very good clones of the hk416 mags. the followers are butter smooth. some of the earlier batches had reported failures of holding the bolt open on the last round but i think later revisions solved that problem.
if you do use one with your converted woo, make sure you have enough compliance parts. |

Thanks, s0b3. The CDNN ad did say they were Daewoo manufactured, but that wouldn't be the first time that there was something inaccurate in a SGN ad. It's always nice to have accurate information. And it's still a good price for the mags.
I don't really need to be concerned about compliance parts. My Daewoo is a 1987 Max II and is all original, but thanks for the heads-up.

Daewoo is big corporation that owns a lot of companies in Korea. I doubt the magazines are original or military Daewoo rifle magazines but Daewoo may well own the company that makes the magazines. I'm pretty sure they are low priced Korean magazines being sold these days and "ATI" may be what the company that makes them calls themselves this year.

Your search-fu is weak, grasshoppers.
ATI is american tactical imports, the importer for them. They also import quite a few other things from other countries. I understand that they import the following: *M193 and M855 from Turkey *The GSG series .22's from Germany *KCI/KHAN Glock mags *KCI AR drums (copy of the Beta mag for about 100 bucks, since the patent expired. Supposed to be the same if not better from reviews posted; apparently these ship with an asston of graphite on them compared to the beta mags) *Safir Arms T14 .410 AR15 uppers and complete guns from Safir of Turkey *A variety of turkish handguns that are based on the M92 frame *A variety of turkish pistols that appear to be based on the Hi-power or CZ-75 pistols *Full sized bolt guns; not sure who makes them. *7.62x39mm AK's *Shotgun shells of turkish origin *9mm MP5 and MP5k clones (rifle and pistol) made by MKE in Turkey on licensed tooling from HK They also act as a distributor for Del-Ton ar's. They've got a pretty diverse set of imports. The actual companies making the products are mostly overseas; some, like the Turks, have been making actual firearms for a pretty long time, often on military tooling that's been surplused out or modified substantially for civilian runs (ala the MKE series). Others like the german sport guns are from companies fairly new to the market. I would assume that magazine manufacture for the Koreans is much like military mag manufacture here- multiple sources. It would make sense to have NATO pattern mags produced there for military/le procurement as well as the glock 19 mags. I've got a few of the KCI glock mags and while the springs aren't as stiff as the stock glock mags I've had zero problems with them yet and stock glock mag springs fit just fine, making them almost indistinguishable from the real deal. http://dealer.americantactical.us/products Interesting. We have guns available now that we haven't seen for awhile!

Well, the mags arrived yesterday afternoon, and they are made in Korea. However, I have no idea who made them. The only kind of identifying mark on them is a "Made in Korea" stamp on the outside of the paper wrapper they come in. They are really nice, though. Great finish, very solid construction, and super smooth follower operation. The only markings on them are "5.56 mm x 45" stamped on the left side of the mag body, along with a "K" stamped inside the mag catch tab. That's right, they don't have a hole for the mag catch. What they did was when they made the stamping for the mag body, there's a raised area at the top left rear of the mag body where the normal mag catch hole is in the M16 mag, but instead of milling or stamping the hole, they just punched a small section out of the raised area and flattened it out again to be flush or slightly recessed in relation the the mag body. Looks like it should lock up real solid in a rifle. The only other marking is on the bottom of the floor plate, which has "AR-15" stamped on it. And speaking of the floor plate, it's one of the strangest ones I've ever seen. It's flat (OK, that's not strange), with an oval hole in the middle of the floor plate and another piece of metal above the floor plate that will move when you poke it, and there's a little rubber thingie at the rear of the floor plate that looks like a pencil eraser, and there are tabs at both front and rear of the plate that fit into slots in the mag body about 1/8" above the bottom. So far I haven't figured out how to disassemble the mag for cleaning, but I suspect that it has something to do with the hole in the bottom of the floor plate. As soon as I get out to the range, I'll let you guys know how well it functions in a rifle.

the bottom works just like a real hk mag, push in the part in the floorplate and push in the tabs on the front/back of the mag and the whole bottom will eject from the spring tension.

If you check the ATI website the same mags CDNN is selling for $9.99 (and like the ones described by catmguy) are listed at $19.99. Interesting.
