Show me your Argentine FAL

There has been a lot of interest in buying the new Argie kits and the new Argie FAL receivers listed by DSA on GunBroker, as well as Coonan receivers with custom serial numbers that match the Argie kits.

By now, there must be a lot of very nice Argentine FAL rifles out there.

This is a matching number new Argy barrel and FMAP receiver. Also the new bolt, carrier, and lower are matching. The new Argentine kits and receivers are of excellent quality and finish. All I had to do on this build was assemble the parts, no refinishing necessary.

Show me your Argentine FAL!

Edited to add: I overlooked filling in the selector letters with colored paint, front sight and gas adjustment numbers too. I will do this before I take this FAL to FAL Fest for show and tell.

Best Regards,
Slo cat

Thats real nice Slo Cat. Does your ole chubby boozing cat approve of it?
So thats the original finish eh thats pretty darn nice. That is a complete kit barrel and everything but the upper receiver, did the kit come from DSA also?
If I hadn't just bought a HB Izzy on Gunbroker I'd be looking into one of these.

firestarter's early TIII put to good use. This was not a Sarco kit but rather a "damn this is painful" piece, by piece, by piece.....

Mark, SARCO has NEW Argy kits for $550 plus shipping (not DSA, but DSA is selling new Argy receivers on GunBroker). Their NEW barrels are unnumbered and their NEW bolts, carriers and lowers match. Not cheap, but where else can you get NEW FAL kits that were manufactured over 30 years ago?
Best Regards,
Slo cat

Don't have a stand alone pic of mine but here it is over my Stg58. Note that Williams scope mount on it. With a Leupold 4x scope it has taken many a whitetail deer. My favorite FAL by far.

Nice rifle Slo cat. Looks like you used the FMAP receiver on yours. ??

Here is mine. 922r compliance seems to turn all rifles into Frankenfals. I used a DSA ty1 receiver, modified to clear the pin in the lower. I retained the Argy hammer and frame locking plate and used a US trigger and sear. DSA handguards and charging handle, FSE pistol grip and Ironwood butt stock. The Argy carrier seemed to be out of spec. and I had to replace it with an Imbel carrier to get it to function properly. The Australian carry handle is my preferred handle for all my FALs.

Sarco Argy kit, Argy closed ear barrel, Argy para rear sight, Argy bipod, Argy dust cover mount with Leopold VX1 3-9x and IOR Valdada stanag rings. Imbel handguards are on until I file the bipod feet so they don't scratch the new Argy handguards. Barrel is not broken in but shoots 1.75 to 2.0 " with PMP at 100 yds. No refinishing needed but I painted the lettering.

Beautiful Argy FALs guys!! I have to show mine....
This one was an ArgyFrankenBritFAL I bought in GB last year and I replaced the Brit lower with an Argy lower that I put together piece by piece....and I love it! The upper and barrel are matching numbers. I do have two SARCO kits and two Argy uppers I bought from DSA and I'm planning to build one in the next couple of weeks (I just need some time off to just do it!) and I will keep the 2nd set as a spare...may be )
So here we go:
US compliance (or complicance?) parts gas piston, Hammer (Argentinized ) trigger, sear, pistol grip and mag follower and floorplate...

SLO-CAT I recently picked up a complete Argentine FAL, mine is just as you discribed yours, Matching numbers on lower, bolt, bolt carrier. FMAP receiver with matching barrel numbers. Finish is primo!
I have noticed that most of the Argentine FAL's have OPEN EAR GAS BLOCKS, is this the case on all of them? Reason I asked is mine has the closed ears? Please share the details about this.
Pics will be posted tonight.
THANKS, and Thanks to Slo-Cat for pointing me into the direction of my new rifle.

Who makes that receiver?
I was looking at a Brit FAL yesterday that had a receiver marked just like that.
It didn't look like a Century and I was thinking it was an early Century imported Argie one.

It didn't look to be assembled by century as there were no inch cuts made to the receiver.

Argentina made both open and closed ear gas blocks. The open eared require a tall rear sight, such as the Argy tall or even the Israeli tall rear sight. The Argy closed ear barrels can use a normal metric rear sight. Make sure your rear sight is appropriate for your type Argy barrel.

Ordered one of the Sarco kits yesterday and just got the email that it will be here Thursday. This will be my first build and my third FAL-already own a SA58 and STG58.

I noticed that DSA has blemished Rosario receivers listed on GB for $380.00

Is that a fair price for this receiver and is this receiver a good match up to the Sarco Argie kit?

Thanx for helping a newbie out with your response.

You thought correct.... Its a genuine forged Argentine Type III receiver.

These "C" marked CAI's can be quite the bang for the buck if you can find them at the right price.

Hi Superglide537,
Those receivers are Type III and are perfect match for the Argy kits from SARCO. You will not be disappointed because the kits are spanking new and the same for the Upper from DSA. Let us know your numbers so we can post your info on the Argy SARCO thread....

The one I bought for $700 was incomplete with out rail cuts, DSA refunded my purchase price, but that was only part of it. By the time all the shipping & transfers getting another off GB.....probably out another 150. So look at it close & compare all the slots and cuts carefully.

+1 what gobbler said. there are subtle differences if you look at the pics closely. also notice some have locking shoulders and some do not. having one might come in handy for you to trade when you are headspacing..

As I'm sitting here looking over this Colt AR-15 kit I just received, which has no Christmas tree, no engraving, no proofs, no character, just plain non-descript tinkly dinky little aluminium parts... It just hit me like a drunken Malvinas Penguin: Damn, I could of have an Argy!

No llores por mi, Argentina. . . . . You could sing this from the balcony of the Casa Rosada.

Best Regards,
Slo cat

PS: I will have an Argy FMAP receiver (SN: x20XX) listed on the Marketplace soon.

PPS: I was expecting there would be a Malvinas FAL team at the FAL Fest 2010 to compete against a Brit FAL team, but this event was cancelled due to lack of time.

No llores por mi Argentina.....that was Madonna and singing from who knows what city in Eastern Europe because there were some hostilities in Buenos Aires against the movie...

Regarding the Malvinas-Falkland Team competition...that is SOME idea! I would love to attend that event....but sorry guys, where is the FAL Fest? I don't have time to surf all the Forums....the FAL Files is a great place
