Don't hold your breath on that... There are few guns I could name that spare, affordable hi-cap magazines are more difficult to find. The good news is that .223 AK magazines can be made to fit & function just fine.

Don't know if a Gali firing pin would work, Apex has them cheap.

The M71 doesn't use a spring loaded firing pin like the M76 does. The M71 firing pin is like a regular 7.62x39 AK-47/AKM firing pin, not the longer AK-74 firing pin. A standard AK firing pin may work in the M71 but I haven't tried it.

Bad idea with the Galil mags.

Better mags are the Weigar .223 AK mags or Bulgarian Waffle .223 mags. Both are easy to modify to fit a Valmet, and neither has the feed angle issue of the Galil mags.

Valmet factory, Weigar steel, and Bulgarian waffle mag modifications. Easy to do with a file, and even easier with a Dremel tool.

Valmet factory

Bulgarian Waffle

Weigar steel

IMHO, Valmets are too expensive and difficult to find parts for to use a Galil mag and risk a kb. YMMV

Gratuitous Valmet M76 shot...

Opps... My bad. I thought everyone knew that Chinese mags were the ones to convert. Sorry if anyone thought I was suggesting Galili mags!
