Legal question for CT
I'm considering building a FAL, but I'm not sure if it's legal in my state. According to the law, I cannot have an "assault weapon" unless it was in my possession prior to 1993, but the law specifically lists the banned weapons as "Fabrique Nationale FN/FAL, FN/LAR, or FN/FNC". Does this mean I am still allowed to assemble and own an Argentine FAL?

the argentine kit is exactly that, a kit, not a firearm.
you can have as many as you want in ct. what you need is a receiver thats not marked FAL in any way. dsa, coonan, imbel, enterprise etc.. all have receivers that are not marked FAL.

All government, in its essence, is a conspiracy against the superior man: its one permanent object is to oppress him and cripple him. If it be aristocratic in organization, then it seeks to protect the man who is superior only in law against the man who is superior in fact; if it be democratic, then it seeks to protect the man who is inferior in every way against both. One of its primary functions is to regiment men by force, to make them as much alike as possible and as dependent upon one another as possible, to search out and combat originality among them. All it can see in an original idea is potential change, and hence an invasion of its prerogatives. The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane and intolerable, and so, if he is romantic, he tries to change it. And even if he is not romantic personally he is very apt to spread discontent among those who are. -H.L. Mencken 1919 ![]() Were not that lucky. |

The quick answer is you must have a receiver which was made or was in the US prior to 1993. An Argy S.A.G. Latta, S.C. FMAP would qualify. You will also need a pistol permit to own a semi-auto assault rifle.
Connecticut did granfather Clinton's pre-Crime Bill on so-called assault rifles.

No. You do not need a pistol permit to own a semi rifle in CT.
You can have a rifle marked FAL as long as it's not a Fabrique Nationale one. It's a name type ban as far as that goes. The only 'type' ban is an AK47, fyi AK74's are NOT considered AK47 type. As I recall there's also the evil features aspect of the '94 ban. From memory you need to have registered your 'AW', it's not just a pre-ban deal.
