Just curious any chance of an inch pattern magazine? Seems like the l1a1 isn't feeling the mag love anywhere.

Thanks

I had the same question and Moses says that these should work in an L1A1 no problem.

Still working on the molds, just trying to get everything perfect or as perfect as they can possibly be.

Thanks for the interest and support from everyone.

Don't have a timeline as to when they will be for sale yet but we are a lot closer than we were 6 months ago.

Soon as I have a good idea of when they will be ready I will post here.

Thanks

I think that's out of DSA's playbook. They went with the 'it works for us most of the time' approach, and it's coming back to bite them in the butt. It turns out they should have done more testing to work out all the bugs, and now people aren't buying their mags. That's a whole lot of money down the drain for a company like DSA, but for better or worse, they can foot the bill.

If Moses' mags don't work 100% of the time, he'll get the same treatment from the FAL community. And to top it off, he'll be out a whole lot of money which he can't afford to lose. If his mags are a flop, then it will probably bankrupt him. That's not a good outcome for anybody. He's taking his time to make sure that his mags are done right and that they work for everybody 100% of the time. That's a good thing.

I know it's frustrating having to wait (I want them to come out too!), but it's part of the process. I would rather wait longer and get a product which works correctly the first time than get one now which doesn't work at all.

By Moses' own words the mags are working perfectly. Hard to imagine how they can be made any better than that. The whole thing reminds me of the Shrike. Difference is that Moses will actually eventually produce a retail product that works and that people can afford.

I have videos posted here and on YouTube of the mags working in various FAL's.

The "perfecting" that I speak of is more of the process of how they are made.

We are modifying the molds so that the mags will be 100% workable right out of the mold.
Right now we are having to do secondary steps after the mags are made to get them to the correct dimensions due to the fact that polymers shrink, expand, bow and warp and don't hold the exact dimensions they are made to.
For example if the inside of the mag needs to be say .900 but when it is taken out of the mold and cools it bows in to say .860 in several spots, that is a problem because then it binds on the rounds in the mag.
So we adjust the mold so it is actually wider than we want it in those particular areas and when the mag cools it bows in to the dimension we want .900.
This is a very tedious task as it is kinda a trial and error process, and every change to the steel mold is a long and dawn out process, and not cheap either.

Right now we are having to use a type of mandrel that we place each mag body on as it comes off the mold or place spacers inside the mag body and anneal it to get it to the correct dimension, both of these processes are too time consuming and not cost effective.
We are making one change at a time because sometimes the one change will effect something else and then we have to account for that.

With each change to the mold taking weeks to complete I think you can see why it is taking the amount of time it is.

I hope this offers some insight to everyone eagerly awaiting the moses mags.

I am just determined to do whatever it takes to get this 100% right before selling the mags to the public.

Feel free to ask anymore questions you may have.

Personally, I support Moses in his desire to have the finished product as close to perfect as it can be. If it takes until next week or next year, I'll still support him, and buy his products. I'd prefer to wait for a near-perfect product rather than have him rush a 'good enough' product to market. As we've seen with DSA's crappy mags and many other 'good enough' products, perfection takes time - and money.

Let's see, a fully functional mag, made by a FAL Filer, that counts as 3 922r compliance parts - what's not to like?

Moses, I haven't kept up with all 20 pages of this thread, but have you checked the mags to see if they will work with the Keltec RFB? There is a pretty good potential for sales if they work as well as surplus mags in the RFB.

My hats off to you sir, that is a tedious process, that may have no end in site. I wish you the best of luck, magazine manufacturing is much more complicated than one would think.

Moses, did the toolshop run mold flow/warp analysis before cutting steel? Some times where the cavity is gated and the type of gate will have an effect on how the part warps, or doesn't warp. Just wondering how the mold is set up. Is the inside of the mag body on a slide, or part of the core? Processing the mold is a pain, lots of variables that can be tweaked for both better and worse results.

Ehhhhhhhh........

I think Moses has been spending the last 2-3 months just tweaking the location of his logo on the mags in order to achieve the maximum marketing/tacticool/bling effect.

j/k!

Bowser, I really have no idea what the mold company did as far as them running "mold flow/warp analysis" I am new to the mold making process and they have been in business for 40 years so I left that kind of stuff to them.
I do know that they talked about the best place to put the gate and they made the gate channel a certain way for best results.
I do know the gate is in a similar location as the gate on a Magpul 308 mag.

Pretty sure that the inside of the body is on a core because we have already had 2 cores made and are probably looking at making a third core right now, to get this bowing in problem solved.
I do know that there are slides in the mold but I don't think they have to do with the inside of the mag body but more with the top of the mag around the feed lips area, I think the slides come in contact with the core to shut off the top of the mold.

I'm not really hip to all the mold lingo yet but I am learning, so if something I wrote sounds weird that's why.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys!!!

Johnny - im sure you have thought about it but whats your thoughts on having some of the moses mags cut with the square hole for the scar mag catch? As expensive as scar mags are I imagine it would be a hit. Then someone could dremel of file off the front beak and fine tune. It would be worth it for weight and $ savings.

If the SCAR mag situation is still like it is now when I get the moses mags completed I will probably make a dedicated SCAR mag.

That being said pretty sure the standard moses mag should be able to be converted to fit the SCAR until then.

Cool HKshooter you should have let me know!

Move along newb, with 3 whole posts on the files you clearly don't know how big a deal this is.. How much exactly of your OWN $$ and time do you have in this venture?? Since I already know the answer and your opinion means absolutely NOTHING mebe you should have saved your thought and your 3'rd post for something somewhat relevant and shared it on ARF...

Johnny is a CLASS act and will get this done..
Those of us that have been here awhile respect his effort and financial outlay (which I happen to know is significant) will patiently await the product..

Not to disparage the effort. I'm am sure that he is a person to be respected. I just lost interest. My Metal Metrics work fine. Your comments are the reason I don't post much on this board and only have 3, now 4 posts. True I am no FAL expert, so I read and listen much more than comment. So don't worry my patient friend you wont read much from me again.
