Wonder nines

so i've decided to start working on the wonder nine collection, already gotten the most difficult one to find, the Cz75 Pre-B.

the rest of the list i can think of is:

*CZ-75 Pre-B $425
* Browning high Power $500
S&W 469 $500
HK P7M13 $1500
* Walthler P38 $250
Glock 17 $500
Beretta 92FS $500
*HK VP70 $500
SIG 226 $600
Steyr GB $700 - $1100
Star M28 $500
C96 $1000
Luger P08 $1500
Walther 88 $1400

now the question is what am i missing cause i know this isn't all of them.

I don't know if I would consider the Hi Power (single action) to be a wonder nine. I don't think I would include the P38 (single stack) either. What about the Steyr GB?

The high power was the original wonder nine, and must be included. I owned a steyr GB and that should be included too. It was very accurate, but also very ugly.

the walther gets a pass cause its an alloy frame, double action, hammer drop safety, loaded chamber indicator, kitchen sink, etc etc etc

Steyr GB eh?

$700 - $1100 not too bad, gonna have to throw that one on the list.

Is the HK P7M13 that SQUEEZE COCKER?
I always thought those were really nice pistols..

Coulda scooped a SWEET Beretta 92 for ya a couple weeks ago for $300.00 if'n I woulda known..

Yer list looks good although I would have no prob subbing in the TAURUS 92/99 for the Beretta as they are really excellent pistols.. While not the best grip and kinda bulky a quality piece just the same..

Recently filled the BHP void myself and am quite pleased with the pistol. The CZ-75 IMHO is a MUST for anyone loking for a GREAT 9MM pistol..

I would like to have a GLOCK-17 as they fit the WONDER 9 catagory for sure..
Would like to find a Nice SIG-226 someday just because they are excellent handguns..

Personally have no interest in the S&W and although the HK-70 is an interesting pc I never really warmed to the look..

The CZ75 is the ONLY WonderNine. In the Pre-B Models, which are the true WonderNines, you can collect early, late, import marked and non-import marked. Then you have short slide, long slide, waffle grip and regular grip. Plus, you need one from every year, date is located in small oval behind the ejection port. Hi-polish blue, black enamel, it never ends!

I am currently on the search for a RA (Rhodesian) marked CZ75. Missed one a while ago and still kicking myself.

Enjoy.

WWII P-38s had a steel frame. I had one, but it was stolen by someone at the impound yard when my car was seized by police after I beat up two cops while stationed in Florida. They slit the cardboard back face of the glove compartment where it was kept to get it, so I figured that it was someone who knew me. I used to hang around with the police whenever I was on liberty, so it could have been anyone I knew. Never got it back, and of course, no one in the PD knew anything about it. Too bad, it was a pretty good gun.

the HK VP70 and S&W 59 are both absolute pieces of crap but they have to be in the pile because they were both part of the XM9 testing.

i have been told but have no way to confirm that the CZ85 was built for the XM9 trials but was never entered because one of the requirements was that they were to be built in the US and CZ had no way to put up a factory here.

gonna have to add a Star 28 to the pile, $500

the only other 75 im looking for now is the Rally

79 short rail high gloss blue

With respect to the S&W, your attached article certainly does not support your statement.

Doesnt have any history at all, but the sig 2022 is a great gun, and a great price.

Don't get confused with the other polymer sig though, the p250 is a POS from what I've heard.

the 88 is a nice gun but its just barely out of the "wonder nine" era.

still no reason to buy it as well though.

always wanted a red 9 broomhandle mauser......

luckily enough the 469 is part of the 59 series so i can get rid of that god awful 59 and get a better one instead.

What's the "wonder nine era"? My understanding of "wonder nine" is the post-war (WWII) 9mm pistols. If you can include the Bloomhandle Red 9, anything goes. Do you want to add a Chi-Com M-203? It's nine-millimeter. Most Red 9 are imported reworks.

Don't forget the Star 31, which was the final update of the 28/30/31 series.
It has the decocker and the conical barrel lockup. It was discontinued shortly thereafter but was a great improvement over the model 28.

I'm not a 9mm guy (my semi autos are either .45 acp or .22 rimfire) but awhile back I ran across something I'd never seen/heard of - a Browning BDM.

I suppose they're not all that rare although I haven't seen a single other example at the last 6 or 7 gunshows I've been to in the Richmond, VA area.

I did some reading on them and decided to buy the only one I'd seen.

They are the narrowest double stack magazine 9mm pistol made.
They are lighter than many aluminum framed 9mm pistols event though they have a steel frame.
They have a loaded chamber indicator (a little "window" in the rear of the chamber/barrel.
They have factory ambidextrous frame mounted safties that will drop the hammer to half cock and/or release the slide forward when moved to the safe position.
The rear of the slide has a slight "ledge" on both sides to aid in gripping while pulling the slide to the rear.
The front of the slide, trigger guard, frame, etc. are rounded and blended to make it look like a custom pistol.
They have a small screw in the left side of the slide that can be turned 90 degrees to line the slot up with one of two letters R or P. When the slot is lined up with the P the pistol works double action (first shot) or single action (first or remaining shots). When turned to line up with R the pistol functions in a double action only mode (for those folks who like DAO semi auto action.
They are the only Browning handguns manufactured in the US.
They haven't been made since 1998.
The magazines hold 15 rounds.

The one I have is a two tone - blued slide and silver (nickle or hard chromed frame).

Check'em out. For your collecting purposes it may fit. No longer made, limited run (made 6 or 8 years), only Brownings made in the US, etc., etc.

Mine will not replace my 1911 style Colt as a carry gun but it is different (I like different).

+1 on the CZ75, no collection of "crunchentickers" is complete without one. An Italian made TZ75 was my first pistol, still have it 23years later. Very accurate, beautiful high gloss blue finish, fits my hand perfectly. It doesn't get out much anymore as I'd rather not beat it up carrying it around. After all, isn't that what God made plastic pistols for?

Am now looking for a CZ75 as a more utilitarian 9mm.

The vp70 is not a pos, it is difficult to use, uncomfortable to carry and shoot
but with the buttstock attached it is cool

226 is on the list.

the P6 would work as well and likely cheaper to boot.

Don't get confused with the other polymer sig though, the p250 is a POS from what I've heard.
+1 for the Sig 2022, I have one in the .40 It took awhile to find one but once found I jumped on it like a Rottweiler on a ham sandwich! It is one of a few Sig's I own but very very happy with this treasure!

Oh, be careful - I started a small firestorm when I suggested that the pre-B series had issues with losing the front sight, which is why they went with the roll-pin through the sight in the B-series.

What do I know - I've only been shooting them since my dad's first in 1977
