Opinions on EOTech and FAL's
I tried the search function first, but still asking:
I'm looking to set up my FAL to be in a semi-CQB (out to 300 yards) format and am looking at the EOTech NV552 with the .308 reticle from DSArms. Anyone have experience with EOTechs? The reticle has notches from zero, at 600, 900, and 1,200...which I wish were set at lower intervals...but I get the need to market for longer distance shooters. Is there a better EOTech for what I'm looking at? Is there a better optic/scope? thanks. |

Don't bother with the .308 reticle - go for the standard 65moa ring/1moa dot reticle.
It's easy to work out holdover out to 600yds & anything between 0 & 300yds will be hit where it matters using POA. I use a standard 512 & can't fault it. |

I have the 552XR308 on my century R1A1 I had chopped down to 16.25". It points fast and I can pick up targets quick. The 4 dots took a little time to get used to. . I have my zero dot 3" high @ 100 yds. I can hold right on out to 300 yds, and hit a 12" plate consistantly. Haven't shot over 300 yds yet.
Like Mike said the 65/1 reticle would be just fine, you only have one dot to pick up. |

I use an XPS-2 EoTech on mine and I love it. No need for the bullet drop dots imo.
