Best Ammo in 16 inch FAL- Need opinions

Hey all,

As Im probably putting in an order for a 16 inch DSA FAL in the next couple weeks, I was wondering

Which manufacturer has the highest velocity ammo in the 150-165 grain range? Anyone have a chrono?

Which ammo in your opinion performs most reliably in the 16 inch FALs?

Highest velocity is not always best...and with a 16 inch spout you will not attaining full speed anyway, you should just try a new of the non "light magnum" loads (as these are not suitable in your FAL) to see what delivers you the best accuracy. For the most part velocity will be an academic issue in standard loadings.

Andy the Aussie made a VERY VALID POINT. No need to go buying or loading match loads for a 16 inch barreled rifle of any make or design unless you plan on setting it up as a short range sniper rifle and even then I could think of cheaper rifles that will do more in that scenerio. Buy any of the following Winchester, Federal/Lake city, American eagle, FNM/Portugese, Hertenberger, South African, Argentine or any decent ammo you can find. You can even go to DSA's web site and check out what ammo they say to stay away from. So it really depends on what kind of performance you want out of the carbine and how good of a shooter you really are and how its going to be set up.
