Pistol carry when using Deuce gear???
Ok fellas; here's the question/problem.....When saddled up with either LC-2 harness and/or Alice pack, what do you do for pistol holster???
I find leg/thigh straps and holster dropped from belt to be cumbersome and restricting. When I make room on the belt; either there's no way to access or things keep banging into the grip. I don't see a way to use a shoulder holster and avoid rifle butts and harness hangups. Nearest thing I can figger is using the UM holster somehow mounted to the off-side LC-2 shoulder strap. ANyone else do this; or have a better way??? Off to the storage tubs ta see what might work out ![]() TIA, Paul

Isnt it amazing how nothing really works well with an ALICE pack, with that said the only way I've ever used is with the aforementioned drop thigh leg holster, not attached to the web pistol belt of old but attached to the pants belt. Alot would have to do with size of your sidearm also. Being military I was restricted to using the long/heavy useless M9/shitretta 92. If you were toting something smaller a molle holster at an angle on the weak hand side of the LC-2 in a modified crossdraw works well. The M9/shitretta 92 is too heavy for this.

For me, offside/crossdraw secondary weapons are non starter for deuce gear. Usually, you get a system that makes drawing with either hand difficult and drawing from the prone dang near impossible.
I do think a flap holster is a good, inexpensive way to go if you plan on using your gear in the dirt and it pretty much has one "right" place on an LC-2 belt. Granted, it's not IPSC fast but, you say you can't access it from there. How come exactly? A rigger made a short drop tab for me once that lowered a knife scabbard below the edge of my cami blouse when hung from my web belt. It works equally well for an M92 flap holster. Take about a foot long piece of 2" strap and sew two 3" loops in each end and then fold them up at 45 degree angles. While this will drop it off your deuce gear belt and onto your trouser belt, it will also be tempting to fill that space on your deuce gear belt again. That will make the pistol hard to get to again. Ever consider ditching the LC 2 and going to a split system: battle belt and chest harness? Solves a lot of issues. |

Did you see the mod I made to my knife sheath at the pool?
Somewhere between an on the belt & a full drop type strap. Maybe that would work for pistol as well? I just made a short double length of web strap, just long enough to wap round the pistol belt on the deuce rig, then left enough to take 4 chicago screws into the original loop. To use without the deuce just remove the screws. I'm not sure if it'd work for a pistol as well as it did for the knife because of the extra weight & different shape. |

i just attach the military bianchi to the pack waist belt or to the side of the pack - the bianchi holster has the quick detach capability - works like a charm
i usually wore the alice pack over the war belt - harness - butpack - holster - very uncomfortable but standard fo usmc - of course ya cant use the alice pack belt and your shoulders go numb...can't have it all |

Got an LBV in your tubs? Much more comfortable than the LC-2 harness, has lots of storage space, different attachments, and you can attach an M12 holster to either the upper or lower front straps (right or left) behind the buckles and it's right there where you can easily access it. (I just dragged everything out of my tubs and tried it, since I usually have the M12 attached to the loops on the flak vest, but it works)
If all else fails, my favorite option with the M9 was to just stick it in my right front trouser pocket with the green nylon GI pistol lanyard around my neck and shoulder. (around base camp, beer tent, won't fall into the latrine, good security) HD |
