Sig P250
I'm contemplating trading off one of my FALs.
One of the items on the table is a NIB Sig P250 9mm compact. I like the idea of being able to play Barbie doll dress up with calibers and grip shells but at $375.00 per caliber change I'm wondering if it's worth it. Does anyone have one of these? How do you like it? Do you have all the various costumes for it or are you maintaining it in one caliber only? Any comments at all are appreciated.

I am a Sig fan, and I am seriously underwhelmed. The trigger reset is long, it is blocky and doesn't feel good in the hand and the conversion kits are well behind schedule and overpriced.

I've handled the P250s and like the feel and the trigger. But, I haven't shot one.
With the awesome variety of synthetic frame pistols available these days, I would do some serious looking, handling, and especially shooting of everything that seems in contention, if you've got a range around that rents handguns. For what you would have in the SIG an extra "grip" and a caliber conversion, you could buy a couple, or more, of some of the competition. |

I fondled a P250 compact, in .45, the other day and it felt super in the hands--would be very interested in shooting one to get a feel for the trigger.

The Air Marshals adopted the P250 in .357 Sig (not available to the shooting public at this time) Over on Sigforum the feelings are mixed, with most 250 shooters thinking its a mistake. One thing for sure, the air marshals will either wring out the P250 in a hurry with their heavy shooting cycle or shit can it in a hurry as a mistake.

Thanks for the input.
I like the concept but the reviews I've read vary wildly. They range from , "I've got 2500 rnds through mine and it's flawless" to "I can't get a mag through mine without it screwing up". K.O.A.M.s comment about the price of conversions is spot on. If I buy this 9mm it will coat approximately $425.00 to change it to .45 because I have to change to a larger grip shell. The gun itself is only a little over $500.00.

My son and I both have the P250 in the 9mm compact. We each paid over $700 for them a year ago and I just saw one at a gun show last weekend in Garland Texas for $479.
I have the all black and my son's is the two tone. I've not shot a lot of other pistols, but of the one I have shot (Glock, Khar, Springfield, other Sigs) I like the P250 the best, mainly for ergonomics but also for the quick cleanup. Collectively we've shot over 500 rounds though them, mostly Winchester, and neither of us have ever had a single jam. Maybe we are just lucky. As for the idea of changing calibers; this pistol was designed to be used in large organizations (we've all read the marketing) where quantities of various sized modules would be available to build whatever was needed for Little Joe, Big Bubba, or Mary Jane. I personally do not believe it's worth spending nearly full price for a caliber kit when you can get the whole enchilada for little more (see that $479 up there?). You'd have a complete set of spare parts (the fire control mechanism) at a better price than you can buy separately. My first post here. Thanks. P.S. The reason I'm here in the first place is because I've fallen in love with the FAL and am coveting a DSA SA58 model. Learning all I can in the meantime. |

My wife sure likes hers. I picked up a M&P 9c for her years ago, and she never did shoot it well. I saw the 250's on the shelves at local dealers for $500 about 2 months ago, and had her fondle one....she liked it, and shoots it amazingly better than the M&P--even had her doing great with it during some night shooting.
It has about 500 rds thru it without a hiccup. I'm more impressed than I thought I would be, but I'm not about to replace any of my 229's with one.......in fact, last weekend I picked up my ELEVENTH 229. Now thats....true love ![]() ETA:for around the same price...I feel that the all German, Ilaflon finished 2022's with NS's are a better value, but of course if you're after "modularity", they aren't that Last edited by azdave12; December 18, 2009 at 21:10. |
