What a surprise!

I'm in process of ordering parts to build a FN FAL
I had already ordered the DSA medium weight barrel.
I decided to order their complete alloy lower to save a little on the individual cost of putting it all together.
After much thought on the idea, I decided that to have all DSA main parts would to be to my advantage.
I thought it would not be as much of a Franken FAL and might work together a little better.
On top of the idea that there is a good wait for new upper receivers, I decided to call DSA once again and get in line.
Here's the big surprise!
I was prepared to lay out the $449.00 and some change when the lady who was taking my order asked me for my { fal-files} member number!
She saved me or should I say you guys saved me $139.00!!!
Evidently they give fal-files member a good discount!
I am grateful for whomever helped to get it and and now anxiously awaiting a call from my FFL broker!
Thanks again!

I'm not sure 100% but the promo just popped up from
them. I suspect that they had over ordered in anticipation
of huge production backlogs that didn't happen and had
to recoup their costs. Needless to say their loss was our gain
and I gladly bought a spare. It would appear to me that
you're headed in the right direction parts wise. I built an
all DSA 16'' Carbine with alloy lower and the railed forend
and it runs like a scalded cat. I showed it to a salesguy
at the local gunseller and he wanted to buy it right there.
The difference to me with respect to kit built or DSA new
parts is that kit parts usually have the sharp edges worn
off of them and the DSA stuff takes a little patience to wear
in. YMMV.

By the way Fulton is selling their new M14 Receivers for $416!

I have an FNFAL that I have lovingly named FrankenGewehr. ( pronounced frank en geh vair) She has parts from 5 countries and if I run across a good deal on Argentine and South African parts, she will be sportin' those as well. She is a fine rifle and I will put her up against any other standard FNFAL for accuracy and reliability.

Don't be a gun snob man. It is a path that leadeth to destruction. At the very least, you can miss out on some really good parts of life with that sort of thinking.

O.K I won't

In response to the comments, thank you for the encouragement.
Also, I wouldn't think of being a snob. Rather, I was thinking of the long term value considering my investment.
I plan to keep these projects for many years and realize alot of times matched items do hold better value.
I would like to build a Franken Fal in time, just wanted to establish my priorities first.
The most expensive items are on the way. Now I can take the time to see what else I can acquire for others!
Hope I didn't seem like I didn't appreciate the vast variety of quality items that {fit}.
That is one of the appealing things about this style of gun!
Thanks again!

All I can say in my defense is, you're absolutely right! I am a
gun snob, sad but true. It's way more expensive than being
an anti-gun snob but that path could leadeth to destruction
maybe. I even own battle rifles I have no intention
of shooting, ha!.

I hear that!

I can relate to what you are saying!
I hate to admit that I've owned guns that I never shot and later sold.
I can't even remember the total # of guns I've owned. I just wish I'd kept them all.
At one time I had a genuine preban FN FAL !
Got it at a pawn shop for 1K!
It took alot of talking but my friend talked me out of it too!

If investment value is the purpose, then you are probably right.

This isn't new, DSA has supported this board since the beginning and has been discounting receivers for Fal Files members for years.
